Default Curly's Law :)

Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?

Curly: This. [holds up one finger]

Mitch: Your finger?

Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don't mean ************.

Mitch: But what is the "one thing?"

Curly: [smiles] That's what you have to find out.

Default re Curly's Law

Hi there everyone :-)

Please visit our blog Rebel Zen for a personal development approach to Curly's Law. I believe it is an amazingly powerful tool that has been to often overlooked.

Thanks,

Seamus Anthony

Default Curly's Law

That certainly is an interesting law. My guess is that it refers to the need to be focused in life. Most people run around just reacting to whatever life hands to them, without any particular plan. Because everything is important to them, nothing is especially important. If nothing is especially important, then there isn't enough time and energy to make anything into a great acheivement. To be really successful at anything requires focus. It requires a sacrifice of the time and energy that would otherwise be spent doing other things. Once you've committed to that, then other things really don't mean anything.
As Curly points out, it is up to you to decide what is going to be the most important thing in your life. What are you going to build up at the cost of ignoring other things that are going on in your life? That may be one of the most important, and the most difficult decisions you'll ever make.

Default The One and the Many

jtracy - you pretty much hit the nail on the head. The essence of Curly's Law is One Thing - i.e. choosing what your True Life Purpose is. But from there the concept needs to break down. For example - your true life purpose probably isn't just your career choice, but if you choose one over-riding career path, that is congruous with your True Life Purpose, then you'll be doing yourself a favour. And then this will break down into sections until you get to the level of the immediate task at hand. At this point Curly's Law still applies - just focussing on the one task without distraction is the optimal way to get things done efficiently.

So in fact I find that the great paradox of Curly's Law is that the One Thing is in fact composed of the Many, and vice-versa, because each component defers to the One Thing. You can read more by visiting either Rebel Zen or going straight to the e-book via CurlysLaw.com
