Default Gotta run!

The time has come for me to move on from this forum. I had a lot of self-discovery here and now I've outgrown it.
I'm not actually sure what my goals were when I first signed onto this forum. At least now I know what they are!
For one thing, I want to take my entomology knowledge to the next level. Recently, I bought a few textbooks on the subject and plan to spend the summer learning and collecting.
Another thing is that I want to build a greater social network, offline. At first I was thinking Toastmasters but I ended up finding something that suits me far better: Nature Manitoba. It's a club for nature lovers. They host several events a week, from biking to canoeing to hiking bird watching to workshops where you can learn about anything from bugs to bats to frogs. I plan to invest a good chunk of my spare time into this organization.
Finally, I want to focus on my health. My wife and I are planning a pregnancy and I want to be in tip-top shape for my future children.
Robert Pagliarini, author of "The Other 8 Hours" mentioned that you are either moving forwards or moving backwards. There is no such thing as a standstill. So I'm either moving towards what I want or farther away from what I want. I'm almost 27 now and I'm ready to take charge. I'm going to move towards what I want and that means that I'm not going to visit here anymore. This website, for me, is a serious time sink.
So with that, good luck to all in the future. If you want to add me to Facebook, drop me a PM in the next day or two.

-Tim

PS. Fun note, when I signed on here, I told myself I would never go past 1000 posts. Go me!

entomology! cool!

my husband started out with that in his many careers to come...and i love when he teaches me about "bugs" whenever we are doing something that makes us stumble across them.

enjoyed whatever interaction we've had in posting.

sound like you are on your way to a great future....keep growing and the very best to you,

aggie

It was great to interact with you, Tim. I like your attitude and you have a great sense of humour.

Do come back if you change your mind.

I wish you the very best in all of your endeavours.

Go Tim - wish you all the best.

Different forums suit people at different stages - I would say this is probably the 3rd or 4th forum phase in my life dating back to around 12 years ago when I first got the net! Most of my phases on a given forum last around 3 -4 years until I start moving on as my focus shifts!

Seems like a very good and well-thought "moving forward" path

Be well in your endeavours!

Wow, this is a great text Tim...

I'm happy about your growth. Absolutely great!

You are right, forums can be a huge time sink. I wish you all the best on your way, I wish you to become a father and to find new friends at Nature Manitoba!

I know my previous post sounded quite final but I have something to add!
Since I stopped spending so much time online (over 2 days?), I got invited to an insect related workshop, through Nature Manitoba.
Ended up meeting two retired entomologists, who I'm sure will remain as long term contacts. Also met a guy around my age who seemed as happy as I was to meet someone who is into nature.
Additionally, I was invited to join an entomology society. Very awesome.
