Default school or money

Hello!

Steve mentions how we should live our life with a purpose and do what we love. I love hair and the beauty industry. I left college to attend cosmetology school ( i have about 1 1/2 years left of hopefully a business degree) Now that I am near graduation I find my self trying to decide if I should go back to school, which happens to be a hour and a half from the cities, or if I should land a nice job in the cities where I can begin to grow my clientel and go back to school when I have some more money saved up and I won't need so many loans.

I am having a hard time going with my "gut" feeling, I'm no sure what it is telling me. Any ideas on my dilema.

p.s My school is in a different state which I would not be able to do hair in because of the state requirements, therefore the commute would be 45-50 min. to a city where I'd be able to work

Thanks for the help!!!

This post is not going to be of help to you if you do not have a bigger vision for your life and the world, but let me put it here anyway:

What is your bigger purpose here on earth?

What do you think is the biggest problem that we face today?

What is the solution to it?

How could you contribute? How could you make this solution happen?

How can you bring your vision together with your most important needs?

While we speak about your most important needs: What are your most important needs? What is it that you want in life? What do you like? What do you dislike? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

Again: What is your bigger vision? In what way are YOU PERSONALLY going to contribute to society?

Now, there are two possible outcomes for you after reading this post:

1.) You are not interested in contributing to the world. You just want to do what you think will make you feel good and give you money.

2.) You realize that if you put every decision in the context of your vision then your decision is going to be easy. Everything will line up with your purpose and you will live a happy and meaningful life.

Sorry for sounding harsh, I don't mean to offend you in any way. I made this post because this is the same EXACT process that I go through whenever I don't know which way to go.

I just ask myself "Does this line up with my vision for a better world?" and if the answer is "No, it doesn't but it would be easier and I would feel far more comfortable and I just don't want to go this route." I just say to myself "Ok, do I want to contribute to the world and live a life with purpose or do I want to see my family, my friends, my future children, all the people I love and all the people that love me and ultimately all the people in this world DIE because I don't want to go the hard route?"

This usually makes making a decision very easy for me. So, again, I don't mean to be harsh to you. This is just the hell of a process that I walk through myself.

It honestly sounds like you need to do what you love.

You're already ready to get a job so why dont you? You dont have to go to class full time either. You can just take one class at a time.

Why do you feel like you need to go back to school first? You haven't given any reasons why you think this might be a better idea. Based on the information you've given, you should probably get your job and take a class at a time... you might save yourself a semester and have to take out fewer loans.

Sven- Thank you so much for taking the time to analyze my problem and taking the time to write down all your thoughts and ideas, I appreciate it. And you know what, you were not harsh at all, you were dead on. I need to focus on the bigger picture and how I can help contribute to some great cause ( ie. helping other people radiate their beauty and make them feel good). I think I need some alone time with myself and dig down deep and really visualize how I want to live the rest of my life and how I want to contribute my talent.

Today in school I had a small moment of " ah ha". Lately I have been looking at high end salons for jobs, but today after my "regular" client came in, I realized its not about where I work, its about the people! I am now going to be searching for salons that will let me see the most number of clients and meet as many new people as I can! This further lead me to thinking on how going back to school will allow me to network, meet new future clients, and learn stuff about business which wil help me create a business in the future that will radiate my view on life and let me run a salon that benefits everyone! SO ... I"m liking the idea of doing both! (school and hair part time)

Thank you !

Asmody, thank you as well for the time to give me some advice and share your link. haha it was quite a new take on that story. But I understood the meaning behind it. I am going to try out meditating a bit more in hopes of helping me sort out my thoughts and clear my mind
