I’m not sure to where to start this thread… but I would like to get some recommendations on universal/timeless books regardless of the topic. I find reading universal books along with practical application is a great way to get a more precise/correct model of reality. Here is some of mine: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Is your genius at work? A great book that helps you discover some of your unique abilities Negotiating Partnerships: Increase Profits and Reduce Risks This very good and has some of the same universal principles as The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. But it is a more in-depth practical analysis of negotiating. Marketing warfare (using universal principals of warfare to explain how marketing works) |

Great Idea for a thread, I will list a few that I have read and reread over the years. I just love to read and these below are exceptionally inspirational, I certainly learned something extra-ordinary from each one. Science of Getting Rich ~Wallace Wattles~ free download "Love yourself - read a good book." |

I definately do not think that the typical personal development books will be timeless. They are written to satisfy the needs of a modern person with renaissance ideals. It's highly probable that a new romantic era will come sometime in the future and in that context the PD books will not be very interesting at all. I don't think that there is such a thing as a completely timeless book, but Dostoyevskey, Steinbeck and a thousand have written some damn good stuff. Thanks for the recommendations! Interesting point that there is no such thing like a timeless book... I think only a book with 100% correct information can be considered timeless. The closest thing to a timeless book is a universal book such as a lot of personal development material. |

Without the doubt - David Allen "Getting Things Done" - this is what made me work more efficiently and what inspired me to create Nozbe - simply get things done web application. Just read the book again... and still discovering how I can do better... |
