Default Why some people like challenges?

Why do some people like challenges and some don't?

For me, I kinda don't like challenges. I rather have it easy than hard. Unfortunately, that's not how the world works. I face many challenges and a lot of time I dread taking them on. I think I would have an easier time taking on challenges if I see them in a different light. So a question for people who likes challenges: What is it about challenges that excite you?

Being able to punch the air and say "wooohooo"

But that's only short lived,

so the long term effects of overcoming challenges is you get to constantly improve and better yourself.

For me, the most important driving force is the desire to change. It's the one thing that motivates me to tackle challenges with all my might. Without remembering that fact, I'll always chicken and go the easy route.

For me, the easy way is the boring way. A challenge gets the adrenaline pumping and when you succeed, you feel like you can conquer the world. Can't always succeed, but that makes the next success even sweeter. Physically or mentally, I will usually go for the challenge. Keeps you on your toes

Staying on the easy track for too long feels like a rut to me... boring, routine-like, depressing. I want to be proud of myself for overcoming fears and succeeding at what does not come naturally to me.

Yeah, the people who like challenges are the people who don't get enough of them.

Generally, if you think the world is a hard, cruel place, you're going to want less challenges, just because you're inadvertently creating so many.

But jeez, think if everything was good and perfect and right. I'd want to take a gun to my skull. When you get to that point in your head, and you see how boring it is, I think you'll start appreciating the challenges a lot more. :P

A lot of people can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ya. In the end, people are cognitively and motivationally very different.

Some will be motivated by peer pressure, even though they won't admit it. Others won't. Some will be motivated by negative thoughts, some by positive thoughts. Some have a big ego and need to keep fueling it. Some were born in competitive societies, others weren't. etc etc

One of the prime directives (duties) of our unconscious mind is to seek the easiest option. That is one of the reasons why you may prefer situations in life that you are familiar with over ones that are unfamiliar to you. It is also why tricky challenges may appear less appealing to you.
