Default Would like your opinions - temporary buisness?

Hello All!

I've got a question I'd value your opinions on. I'll give abit of backstory:
I'm 18, and I finished high-school last june. Since then I've been working as a programmer in a company that was willing to hire me, not so much for a living(I live with my folks), but for my own money(no allowance or anything, I'm responsible for anything beyond eating at home or direct living costs). I'm planning to quit the job on Jan 1st, after having earned the money for my trip to the US, which will start at the workshop, and end around 3.5 weeks later. One more thing that seems relevant - Here in Israel, military service is compulsury, so I'll be drafted around may, and it is unlikely I'll be able to legaly discharge from the military till 3 years later.

My question is as such - I have an idea for an internet-based buisness, and I have already aquired most of the technical skills nessicary to produce my product. Assuming I can legaly work while in the military(which isn't certain), Do you think it'll be a good idea to start this buisness in my free time today? Even if I know its not what I really want for my life? - it's not that I'm not interested in the areas related to the internet buisness, and I can get motivated about them, I'm just more attracted to other carrer paths(such as music).

Thanks alot!

If you have the time, I would do it. What you will learn from it will benefit you also in any other future career paths.

When it is time for the military and you cannot have the business anymore, can you leave it in the care of a friend, brother, cousin or something like that? They will get the money in the time that you are gone (minus a percentage for you of course) and you will have some nice savings when you come out of the military.
