Default Hell yeah vs hell why not

I found these two pages useful:
No more yes. It's either HELL YEAH! or no. | Derek Sivers
The Flip Side of “HELL YEAH!” Or No – How About “HELL WHY NOT!”

This is about decision making. Something has come up - an event, idea, project, etc. You have to decide whether to go for it or let it pass.

I implement this in terms of 'primary goals'. (Steve has written about primary goals - basically these are the one or two things you're concentrating on for growth at any one time.)

If something is in maintenance mode, I apply the rule "Hell Yeah or No". I only respond to something if I'm really enthusiastic. Otherwise, I save my time and resources for other things.

Conversely, if an opportunity comes up that's part of my current focus, the rule is "Hell Why Not?". I'll do it unless I have a good reason not to.

Your thoughts?
