Default Simple tools to Succeed

whatever your goals are, This tools might helps you to achive it

1. Make your goal Must - It has to be done no matter what
2. Take immediate action/symbol - for example your goal is to do excercise then first take one dumbels even if you do not use it, take one magazine in your home even if you do not open it.
3. make your goal statement infront of you. mainly where you can seeit everyday like in bathroom or dresing table.
4.Listen to motivational audios
5. Associate Potential pain (what if you do not achive your goal) for example you are smoke then think all the things will happen to you if you do not quit and all the suffering you are already facing .. make it more emotional and writeit and take it with you in pocket or if possible record it mp3 and take it with your mobile and listen whenever you have time.
6. Associate all the pleasure. -- similar to above point
7. Make it temporaory (do make 30 days commitement and not life time.)
8. Associate with right people who are succedded on what you are going to achieve (this is really tough for me and i dont know how to do it - I am still learning on it .. I think i have to improve my communication skill for the same.)

You can use above mention tools..

A great strategy PerDev and I quite agree the pain and pleasure approaches are good tools to use towards achieving success. However, I feel wherever possible the pleasure option is the preferred choice.

I like your idea of using different media, such as an mp3 player, to remind yourself about your goal. Add associating with successful people to become successful yourself. You could add building yourself a Mastermind team to this idea.

Also you may like to use the GROW model for setting goals; this has proved very successful in life coaching circles. There are also other acromyns to use that will help with your goal setting process, such as SMART.

Good luck and keep up the great start.

Regards

Paul

I think that an important part of success is simply setting and achieving goals, and simply put this is it:

1. Decide what you're going to do.
2. Decide how you're going to do it.
3. Do it.

Of course there are certain things to consider and be careful of in each step. A lot of people never decide what they want to do, but a lot of people who have decided on a goal spend their whole life preparing rather than doing, while others go straight into doing without doing any research. There's a certain balance that may take some trial and error to learn, but the basic process itself is pretty simple.

Important to make sure that you have clear goals, and your efforts and self-sacrifice are supported with a way where you go.

analyze your situation regularly. If something is holding you back, figure out what it is (I'm too lazy, I'm too tired, I'm too busy, I lack skills, etc.). When you know what it is, fix it. There is always a way to fix it, just don't give up.

Additionally, the way I think of life is pretty simple. Most of the "successes" I want in life, someone else has already achieved. Probably many people have achieved these things, and honestly, a lot of them were not as smart or talented as I am. So the only thing between me and my goals is trying.

Your above 2 suggestions are wonderful starts...

Actually, simply observe thoughtfully the successful 'Motivational-strategies' of crawling babies,
unless you remember your own excellence at that stage: for each goal, let's say Learning... to walk, or write, or
whatever
First they're keen observers, closely paying attention
to imitate the best examples, just like you said; and then they steadfastly proceed. How? ->They are passionate, single-minded, focused, pay attention, don't let set-backs slow them down, absolutely driven, ie experts! in motivation. They want what they want, and they -just like you- don't stop 'til Achievement is theirs huraah!!

Thus you see, a toddler has no need for external-motivationals, because each of us comes INternally pre-programmed/pre-packaged with all that any of us needs for our chosen goal-attainments. Kewl, eh?
(so we also don't need musts, let alone bizarre pains).

And temporary?, you're kidding. - Pleasure ought to be permanent , especially the passion for learning, achieving & gaining positive, constructive & inspirational goals. Have fun!!!

One key step which I find important is determining Why you want to achieve a certain goal. Once I do that, I write them down on a sheet of paper with the goal statement at the top. I constantly refer to it whenever I need a reminder as to why I'm working towards that particular goal.

Wink Taking care of yourself!

I would like to add one thing to your great post.

I am a go getter too. I want to achieve my dreams and make them manifest. But I've found one more very important lesson that is essential for manifesting your success. This is called, "Filling Up Your Tank of Life."

It's all about making sure you take time to nurture and care for yourself, or you will run into burn out. My husband and I have a blog post on this subject where we explain why this is so important and is a MUST for your own personal success. If you want to check it out here's the link Fill Yourself Up! | maketheworldyourstage.com

I totally agree with all the other points you made!

Some thoughts...make sure the goal has an achievement timeframe with beginning, intermediate, and final steps/actions to take. Some kind of reward system is good too, along with a certain level of third-person accountability. Good stuff!

Yes WHY is the Heart of any Goal, I would say Soul too.

Reasons come first, Answers comes second.

Yes, This is extremly important otherwise you might have chance to having Lightworker Syndrom.

I think it this way
Service to others is same as service to self.
I also think to contribute our best we have to be
incredibly selfish about out happiness. and we should go to the direction of Joy and we need to make sure that Guy in the Glass is our first Best friend.

yes this is also good point and I am still not good at it..

As you said, We will not manage the things which we do not measure.
without measuring things Drift..

For Measuring, I think "Personal Accoutability System" can be very powerful tool. And also some planning tool like ActionOutline and Weekly Perspective sheet. (I am still not habitual to it ..)

I have notice one thing that if i try to push hard on planning, Lot of good ideas are slip away from my mind as i am focusing on the one particular thread.

So here We have to know WHY(END GOAL) very clearly and it has to be seprated from Mean Goal (there can be more than one MEAN way to achive END GOAL) (This is very crusial. Otheriwse we can waste lot of time..)
As Every decision we make has an “opportunity cost.” Every decision forfeits all other opportunities we had before we made it. We can’t be two places at the same time.

I see many people fail to achieve their goals simply because they spend all their time thinking and planing to achieve the goals but never do anything to make it happen. Part of success usually requires doing as well as thinking.

In my own life I must take action on my thoughts and plans or I am merely lying to myself and living in a fantasy world. I prefer reality. YMMV

Yes I know this is very common Trap of our mind. To leave us with the illusion of progress. and make us lazy.
and help us fooling ourself by giving illusion of progress.

And habit of focusing, Measuring, reviwing and acting on your goals Help to avoid this Trap.

I like this quote.

Never leave the sight before doing some immediate action or decision in the direction of achivement of your goals.
in this case
question "Whats Next Action?" helps on shortterm.
And Self-Decipline helps long term.

Some tools from me

1. Laugh yourself. Laugh at the world. You have a choice, or are you laughing or crying. When I cried, life was black. When I laughed, great opportunities were opened. Also help others to laugh, choose joy. Anyway everything will pass.

2. Realize that life is a joke, it's not something serious. This is one of valuable lessons I learned. If you are looking at life as something serious, you will lose the meaning of life. "Life is not as serious as my mind makes it out to be. "

3. No one can save you, except yourself! I was waiting for someone to save me ... and that person never came.

4. Do not be jealous ... It's like a disease that kills the relationship.

One thing I also try to bear in mind is not to be afraid of changing a goal (deciding I no longer wish to achieve a particular goal) if at some point I realize I don't find it fulfilling anymore.
Sometimes people keep pursuing something just because they've already put so much effort into it and don't want to admit to themselves they might have been wrong.
Just my 2 cents...

yes, I think in this case having persistent vision and reviwing on every 3-6 month help.
