This is the first trial I've thought through properly and I hope by writing here (and making part of that my trial) I hope get some accountability and support. Mine is a 31 day because my wife has her birthday this month and I know some aspects of the trial will be near impossible or at least not worth the agro. 1. Not eating sugar or artificial sweeteners (except when needed in bread/alcohol) 2. Learning and practising web design for an hour 3. Writing for ebook or website I plan to make for an hour 4. Taking a picture of my son 5. Posting to this forum I thought at first that this was too much as I tend to get stressed/depressed and feel guilty when eat bad stuff but I realise 1. shouldn't take up any time and I'm more likely to do 2 and 3 to take my mind off doing 1. 4 is something easy that I always wanted to do but now will for the next 30 days. I've realised that the 31 day limit is so important as I know certain occassions that doing this will be more difficult. Desserts with celebration meals etc or birthday/wedding cakes where my wife will be upset if I don't. So wish me luck and will post everyday incl. topday to tell you how its gone. Thanks Ed |

Good luck Ed. I respect anyone who commits to a personal challenge like this. I did a 90 day fitness challenge a year ago and I learned a lot about myself. My discipline muscles grew like crazy and I proved to myself the real power of committment to oneself! I will be keeping an eye on your progress here in this thread. |

I managed everything - just. I only finished writing a second ago and am very tired. So posting this to fulfil the last term in the trial but will give a broader perspective on things over the next days when my son doesn't stay up so late. Thanks for the previos post btw. |

As I finished the writing part of my trial so late last night I didn't write a lot to this forum. Thanks again to Justin for his encouragement. It helped when you said you were paying attention. And hope you perDev keep up with it. I quite smoking around two years ago when my son was born and it has got to best thing I've done for my health ever. I struggled getting a the two hours of work/writing in as I have many interuptions but kept track with Clockingit site. It felt good when I did finish that I could relax for ten minutes playing xbox before bed. I videoed my son for quite a while he ran around the garden and felt really positive about not eating any sugar etc. Although I did eat Corn Flakes which does have some sugar added it is not this small amount that will probably end up giving me diabetes - it's the binging on cakes and chocolate. Felt good not to eat sweets for a day and my energy levels where so that I could stay up late and concentrate when after a binge I sometimes felt exhausted at 10. Even after one day I feel better. It has given me some structure to what is avery unstructured normal day. I will just try and get everything done earlier. Hopefully have time for bigger post tonight. Ed |
