Default I hate procrastination

What are your most effective tips on beating procrastination?

Mine are (so far)
1) just actually forcing my self to do it.

Two tips.

1) Get some 'world class' friends to push you in the right direction. Or, if you do not yet socialize with ambitious people use this forum as a starting point.

2) Get so absorbed by your goal so that no turning back is possible. Feel it, visualize it, taste it, know it. Know you will get closer to it, inch by inch.

Your time is now.

Hi,

Read "The procrastinator's handbook" by Rita Emmett.

Lots of good tips in there.

Procrastination by itself is not always a bad thing. It's when you procrastinate without being productive that sucks.

I tend to use a structured procrastination approach.

The way this works is to have a number of things that you are trying to accomplish, one of which needs to be some chore/task that isn't important or urgent, but is onerous. You really have to hate this one. Then I rank the other jobs in order from least to most fun. In this way, i can still procrastinate by avoiding the huge annoying task that doesn't really need to be done, but accomplish a whole lot else instead.

When you wake up in the morning get up.
When you get up do something.

This was the advice a prestigious woman's college gave all of the incoming freshman class years ago. I just wish I could remember which school the advice came from.

When I am feeling a little stuck I still remind myself to get up and do something.
