Default 30 Day Challenge

After reading Steve's separation article, I feel challenged to stretch my personal effectiveness muscles. I admire his (and Erin's) decision to get a divorce to pursue happiness..if that's not walking the walk, what is. Sooo, my 30day challenge involves 1. A daily 30min basic meditation exercise. 2. 3hrs daily dedicated to reading and learning. 3. Strictly observe a twice daily DIY facial treatment..hmmm 4. Just for fun, take a cold shower daily. (cold, not shower, is the key word..just incase you was wondering). 5. Update this thread daily (if only for self discipline).

Default Day One

I managed 4 out of 5 activities from my challenge. 1. I took a cold shower for the first time in eons-despite the beautiful warm weather here, i hate cold water. It was HORRIFIC. 29 days to go. 2. I did my twice daily facial..in my teens, i had good skin..guess adolescence is catching up with me. But its nothing Apple Cider Vinegar can't fix. 3. I spent more than 3 hrs learning and reading. This is easy for me..should try smethng like 6hrs in my next challenge. 4. I have updated my thread. 5. No meditation was done. I had alot of quiet time dont know why I didn't do it. I'l try again. It feels good to work on somethng for my betterment. Over to Day 2.

good start, if you loosing time try to make detailed minute by minute day plan and use timer for each period to avoid extra falling in to favorite things.

Default Day Two

This is proving to be more challenging than I imagined..its not so much the challenges themselves than it is time management and self commitment...am glad once I can correctly and completely accomplish these challenges, i'l have learnt a thing or two about committing. 1. I didn't attempt meditation-no plausible reason can be provided yet. 2. I had a warm bath..it rained in the morning and right there was my reason for skipping the cold shower. Yeah, yeah yeah..its not the best of reasons. 3. I read for at least 3hrs..o.k, i read a woman's magazine about self image and beauty..i learnt that i don't have to be Miss My Country to be beautiful..women must love themselves regardless of acne, cellulite, receding hairline, skin and mammary glands going south bla bla bla..4. I skipped my night DIY facial regimen..5. I have succesfully updated me blog. 2/5..40% success, not very nice but hanging in there..

Nimo, I think you doing pretty good, I would say your number one goal is to work over your goals daily (that was for me) kind of establishing behaviour, and you doing good with that, rest of the goals will slowly grow up, even if you are not updating your blog 100% try to make tommorow a bit more than day before, not 40 but 50 %, this is how your will power will become stronger. Good luck!

Default Day Three

I tried..am much better than i did yesterday. Thanx Aleks..i'l work on establishing behaviour rather than just working toward goal accomplishment. I need to get into a program..thanks for that perspective its much better than mindless goal achievement. Now the update. 1. I managed 20mins of meditation until ongoing construction in my apartment building shook me out of a blissful mental state. Argh! 2. Cold water on my back didn't feel so bad..i lied but am getting used to it. Ahem. 3. 3hrs of reading..DONE..but i must define what 'reading' means..as much as I learn from this forums, staying on it for 3hrs straight while I have pending scholastic assignments is not effective TM..in the meantime, i read for 3 hrs. 4. I so did my twice daily DIY facial..am loving taking care of my skin...its so unlike me but late adolescence has caught up with me but be warned oh skin imperfections..am the wrong tigress to mess with! 5. Tasks updated. You said it 99% task accomplishment. U ask whr the 1% went to? There's always room for improvement is what i say..am wrking toward 100%. Yay!

Default Day Four & Five

This is tougher than I thought..am hanging in there though..to get me some self-discipline. Update 1. No meditation yet...i've managed 20mins in the last 5 days while I should have done 150mins by now..am not yet feeling like a total failure. Self-redemption is possible. 2. Cold showers are becoming norm...i no longer put 30mins between soaping and rinsing off..hehe. 3. Reading for 3hrs is a little hard on Sunday with all the activities scheduled, Saturdays are fine because I attend class from 8a.m to 5p.m...3 batches of 3hours! 4. My twice daily DIY facials are being observed strictly, I want to transform my skin in the next 90days. I owe it to myself. 5. I failed to update the thread yesterday...we suffered what is suspected to have been a nationwide power outtage. Over to day 6. I start with meditation right after my 3hour nap. No work for me today..yay!

Default Day 6 and 7

Its becoming clear that i am having a problem with meditation. yesterday, i did a nice 30 minutes but the day before that was hopeless. i stayed in, watched movie after movie and only got around to doing anything of importance after 9pm. Argh!! i don't like this at all.

Anyhu,

1. didn't get to do my morning facial on day 6 but did the before bed one. i did both the morn and before bed for day 7...yesterday.

2.i read for 3 hours yesterday but not on day 6. its easy for me to read whenout of the house...should make a point of leaving the house for at least 3 hours if i have to do some reading.

3. cold shower..eh, no luck there. no excuses..pure laziness and outright refusal.. who am i kidding!

4. Meditation for day 6= Nil, for Day 7= 30 mins..yay!!!

5. Updated the blog...looks like am doing this every other day..its okay but i'll be changing that today.

well, there i have it, a pattern begins to form.

1 i do not like cold showers and will convince myself not to take a cold one every opportunity i get..what to do?

2. reading from the house is a toughie, needs me to look for a place to take my reading..a library or quiet place nearby..i'll be on the look out.

3. i have to become committed to meditation. i am fully aware of the benefits but i can't somehow find the 'right time' to do it..yeah, sounds lame, i know.

anyways, will be working on these patterns.
