Default I understand

I completely understand. I am 26 and have gone through the same thing. It's tough. I have faith that I will be rich one day. I have a few business ideas that I am pursuing but in the meantime I am a "hundredaire" with no job and a business that brings in around $50 per week. I know you will be rich too. Just learn as much as you can and then apply it. If you want to do business, learn from the best business people. Use them as mentors. Copy them. That's what I'm working on. Association breeds similarity.

You know one day people are going to wake up and realize that "no job" is not that big a deal..

In my life I have gone without jobs 4-10 times on purpose.. not on accident..

The thing is very soon it will become apparent (within our lifetimes) that jobs aren't important..

Tell me since you have no job and therefore based on reality's rules.. your life must suck..

How do you eat?
How do you sleep on the ground? (what's that.. you don't.. shocking!!! absolutely shocking!!!)
How do you afford that internet access and working free of malware computer?
How will you get that sportz car?? Stepmaster?? and shoeless wonder toy??

What's my point?? my point is.. job = not important.. if you want one fine.. but don't hold yourself back or think negatively of yourself.. cause you don't have one.. live EVERY day likes it's your last.. and live every moment chasing excitements and your dreams.. if you do this you will be SUPPORTED.. even if you don't you will be supported.. cause you are supported even with NO JOB!

(end RANT)

Hmm I do all that by living in my parents' house at the moment. My biggest desire right now, is live in a place on my own and start relying on myself to provide for me. How is that going to happen without a job? I know I can stay where I am, and the above conditions will remain the same. But at the same time, I don't think well of people who are reaching 30 and are still living with their parents, only because they don't want to take their life in their own hands and lose their conveniences.

I totally agree about chasing excitements and dreams What happens when this fact by its own, means that you need money in order to do that, and money won't fall suddenly from the sky? So, you will need a job at first. As long as you don't see it a goal for itself, but a means in order to achieve your other goals. At least, that's my situation now that I want to move out from my parents' house.

lightthecandle, do you really want to become a doctor or this is other people's expectations for you? Or you think that that's the only way for you to become rich? Wouldn't it be more productive if you thought about what you would like to do with the money (thus seeing it as a means to an end), rather than just wanting to "be rich"?

Which means you don't think well of yourself

You might want to work on that.. that doesn't really serve you..

Actually, money will fall from the sky.. the EGO applies a lot of fear ideas to being supported it says.. "I won't have money to live" "How can I create my dreams without money" "This is just impossible.. first I need money, then a job, then a tooth fairy and a new bicycle then I'll be set to follow my dreams"

Did I say getting around these EGO messages about FEAR is easy???? NO
But that's what it is.. I will give you a real world example..

My sister says her dream is to sail on a sail boat.. but she lives in Denver with me.. I said the first step is to move your ass to the coast.. what does she say.. she says "I need money and a job to do that" "Basically she says her dream will be held back for 5 more 10 more years cause she's stuck in ego ideas"

As I see it I know if my sister wanted that boat and moved to the COAST it would be created for her.. she'd be on it or close to it in less than 2 years.. instead she holds a path that is created by EGO out of fear..

Relax, I am 25 and the same way. But how do you know you aren't smart enough to be a doctor? Have you failed out of med school? Did you have ambition and good study habits? If you are interested in medicine and health I am sure there are a lot of related fields that are not so intensive - maybe something like physical therapy.

I've left two jobs in about a year and now I can't get another one - I've been unemployed like 9 months, living with my parents for 6 months. For a while I was nervous but now I just don't care. I've realized applying to the jobs I've been targeting makes me kind of nauseous, so I think I am just going to say screw it and go to school for something I am interested in. I think with some manual labor and blogging I should be able to pay my way through it. I can't say I know what I want to study, but its bound to be a better shot than just picking a major that my parents were happy with like the first time around.

Unhappy

man, I am totally in the same boat. So depressing
Im also a guy in my 20's who life has been a total failure up to this point. Im not working at the moment as my position working in a warehouse became pretty much unrequired due to the recession etc.

I've got some IT qualifications but nothing special. I went to college to study IT when i was younger simply because i NEVER had an idea of what i wanted to do with my life. IT sounded good/sensible. Basically I have no interest in computers though and the courses were really a bit of a waste of time.

I so desperately need some help. Have any of you got any stories where you 'found' something and your life turned around? My whole situation is made a little harder still due to the fact that I cant drive, and I also suffer from social anxiety in some situations, which tends to mean that anything 'work related' becomes 10 times harder (e.g job interviews!!)

Basically It seems like my options are to either go and find another brain dead job in a warehoue OR 'SOMETHING ELSE'. Im just not sure what the 'something else' could be. Most of my friends are starting to become quite successful in their 'careers' and im left behind feeling like a teenager still.

At the moment im thinking maybe a 'trade' (plasterer?). Although again that is something that I dont have any real interest in. Its just that I know that you can earn good money doing it and I quite enjoy being 'active'.

People always say to look at your interest and skills etc. That doesn't really help me though; If you asked my friends, they'd say that 'music' is my 'thing'. However, I know that im not good enough to make a job out of it. I play piano but am self taught. It might impress my mates but i know that its not enough.

I also love animals - but Id need something where I could pretty much start without having to take years and years in college again, as, like i say, im well into my 20's now (God, even WRITING that hurts!!)

Any help??

I am really, really curious about you guys. With no income, how do you live? Ah, maybe your parents are the ones with the income...? I have discovered, as long as a person is supported by someone else, he or she can go on and on about life, etc. etc. The moment mom kicks us out, then magically everything will be clear and WE WILL have income. Why wait? Why not do the right thing NOW? I mean, instead of being dependent on parents...just a suggestion.

I am as most of you are saying in a similar boat. In as much as i have no idea what or where i want to go with my life next.

At this point i am successful in the job i have however i also realise that a job is not what i want. I want to be working for myself. But the million dollar question is doing what.

Ideas are not the problem i am always having ideas of what i would like to do, however they always seem to sit that level above my ability to pursue the opportunity. Let me explain that.

When I had $100 available to invest i always had idea's that would take $1000+
Then when i got $1000 i saw the flaws in those ideas and kept coming up with ideas that needed $10,000+
Then when i got $10,000 i saw the flaws again and kept coming up with ideas that needed $100,000+

I kind of fear that this is just going to continue though if i had $100,000 i would not se the value in the ideas this level and be always coming up with idea's that need millions. I have to believe that at some level this will stop and the finance available will match the idea but i just do not know where, that level is.

The biggest problem is I am successful in my job, have reasonable savings and a will to move on but no idea where to go. I have read alot about following and finding your passion and such, but just how to find this i do not know, the tests and books and proceses just dont seem to be working out for me at the moment.
