| Hello everyone! I'm glad to become a member of this community of like minded people - the kind that want to get more out of life, by improving themselves... I thought I'd share my simple "method" for overcoming procrastination, which works for me many times. Sometimes we procrastinate BECAUSE we have a lot to do. You have a long “to-do” list and you don’t know where to start. Or – you find yourself avoiding actually thinking of what you should be doing – too much thinking involved… “What should I start with?” “What if it gets more complicated?” “What if I get interrupted with that other thing…but I can’t start with that other thing because…” And so on and on…and you end up sleeping, or watching TV or something… So how do you break that pattern? The moment you realize that you’re doing this – NOT doing that is, simply let go of all these thoughts by replacing them with action. Don’t plan, don’t try to decide what to do first, don’t “prioritize”… Just pick the EASIEST, SMALLEST action that you can do to get you going. Usually it would create a momentum that would carry you on to accomplishing more of what you have on “your list”. Try it! Oh, and please watch, rate and share my video on YouTube.com Your First Step Toward Success! Please Share It. Thanks! Rotem. Last edited by Rotem : 02-18-2007 at 03:32 AM. |

| Thanks Rotem, that's great advice. Another kink you can add to this method is to tell yourself you are only going to work on (whatever) for 30 minutes. This takes away the fear that the task will take too long. Just getting to it is a great way to go, and often you don't feel like stopping. I recommend Neil Fiore's book The Now Habit for anyone (like me) who has had trouble procrastinating. |

| Hi All, Another cool tip is to define why you are doing a certain task. I know that when I get into my office in the morning (Monday) there will be loads of emails and phone calls to answer - I could easily slip into procrastination mode!! What I do is sit there and think about Friday and all of the achievements that I will have made in my business between now and then. Then I think about all of the people that I will be helping by just replying to my email and phone calls. Procrastination occurs when our goals are not clear, so get your reasons clear and the motivation will soon kick in! Hope this helps! |

A simple trick I used is to write down the goals I want to work on the next day just before I go to bed. The minute I woke up the next day, I'll review what I've to accomplish and start working on them. While I may not get to work on every single goal I set to reach, I'll at least accomplish the more important ones |
