I've had a couple of situations like that, where it seems like the perfect time for a beer. None have been a real big problem though.

What usually happens is I think "Is a beer really necessary for this moment to be as good as it can be? And the honest answer is no, it's just that patios and sunshine and barbecues sort of cue up thoughts about beer. It's just a thought about beer, not a real craving.

Good to see things are cruising along with you. I agree with you about not avoiding situations where people drink. I think it's important not to change anything but whether you drink or not, otherwise you're letting it make decisions for you, which kind of defeats the purpose.

After reading Allen Carr's Control alcohol the easy way- I have quit drinking with no effort at all. I drank frequently for all the wrong reasons. I always thought "Alcohol is a tool, not a toy"

I wish i would have quit years ago now Waking up in the mornings is now quite amazing experience now that my brain is clear and fresh!!

Default im only human...

so i had a drink and broke my 30 day trial with some schnapps at home after a gig i went to, i'm not quite sure why I even drank it. i just wanted it and to try schnapps because i'd never had it before and it was offered to me. schnapps is quite yuck.

i felt weird after, i realised the effect straight away and i felt like i wasn't quite "there" but i enjoyed the feeling. i wasn't hungover because i didn't drink much.

i got to see how it is to interact in common situations where i might be normally be drinking heavily. its made me reassess how much i drink and how i dont need it. im a little annoyed at myself but i achieved 21 days without drinking which i think has really been interesting anyway.

Default great insight

Its a nice sunny day , and you wanted a beer to enhance the day...perfectly understandable. And you refrained because you knew you'd enjoy the day anyway(I think...).
I used to drink and use drugs and had a good time doing it...Then, I looked around and saw stuff in my life that I did not want.Low quality results outnumbered the positive...its been like three years since I stopped. I was into the local music scene and it hasn't been easy...
I frame it to myself in the following manner-
"You've done enough-the edge you gain by being clearthinking is beyond your ability to comprehend it-chase THAT high."

I'm no 'Friend of Bill W's' but I'm no enemy either. He had better stay outta my face tho

Keep It Up-You are Worth the Effort

I rarely drink alcohol, the negatives of it vastly outweigh the positives for me. I have plenty of friends who earn more money than me, but because they go out every weekend they never actually have any disposable cash...except for more drinking of course.

I thought it would be a good idea for me to see how I feel, save money, see how it is to go to a gig, interact with people in social settings without alcohol etc. I'm mostly worried about the weekend and if any of my friends will notice.
I'm going to do it and I'll update this every week.
Give me 5 bucks every day and i'll forget about alcohol for many, many years.
