Default Notes into Actions

I take a lot of notes and they are scattered throughout notebooks and word files and I find I am not sure how to assimilate these random nuggets of wisdom and points to ponder.

What works for you guys?

I'm very good at listening to what is important and taking notes, but I'm not sure how to best use these notes and points to ponder.

I want to be action-oriented, not simply rereading what I already know.

Any suggestions other than merely re-reading my old notes?

Maybe read this: Tip: Our Action Addiction from Behance Magazine

Capture action steps rather than notes, turn notes into something meaningful by turning them into action steps.

I just had a same problem, my to do's was in outlook, PDA, paper diary, work book, and I just forget or some time became mad to find expired things to be done, then I have decided to simplify as much as possible, so now days I have to do in outlook and PDA only, do not synchronyze them, use PDA only for out of work issues, all notes in outlook memos, or notepad files, all paper based things are throuwn away, only work book left, as I work some time away of office, if I have short notes, I quickly copy to text file and throuw paper one away. Believe that productivity depends on simplicity (sorry my English )
