Default 88 important truths I've learned about life

Hi everyone,

Over the past while I've compiled a list of 88 things I've discovered about life, and I published them on my blog today. I think a lot of you would appreciate it, and I'd love to hear what you agree with or don't agree with.

88 Important Truths I’ve Learned About Life | Raptitude.com

I'd also love to hear your own aphorisms and discoveries in life too! I'd like to eventually do the same thing but with my reader's life lessons.

Hey David, what a great idea.I just opened a thread to ask about people´s personal experiences with success, but your blog post is exactly what I was looking for.
I always appreciate personal experiences, they´re quite interesting to read and sometimes encourage me to dare a change.

I love those quotations:
2. It is 100 times more difficult to burn calories than to refrain from consuming them in the first place.

Most people don´t think that way,but it´s a great perception and quite encouraging. You´re soo right:Why making things harder as they are?

12. You never have to deal with more than one moment at a time.
Same as above.I often feel myself overcharged with things I want to do and with problems I need to handle. The truth is, that procrastinaton only make things harder to attain.

15. Nobody has it all figured out.

True, otherwise there wouldn´t be so much threads and discussions in this forum.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating-and the only recipe for success.

24. Those who complain the most, accomplish the least.

25. Putting something off makes it instantly harder and scarier.

That´s soo true.Procrastination makes you more fearful and obstacles are going to be overrated. It´s easier to do it immediately.

30. The most common addiction in the world is the draw of comfort. It wrecks dreams and breaks people.

True. One person just opened a thread about the abstain of pleasure and success.

34. Everyone you meet is better than you at something.

69. Problems, when they arise, are rarely as painful as the act of fearing them.

88. Killing time is an atrocity. It’s priceless, and it never grows back.

Excellent post David!

thoroughly enjoyed reading that...some of those really stuck out for me, nice to be able to visualise the world through someone elses eyes, a great skill to cultivate if ever there was one!

This was a big one for me. I used tell myself it was okay to indulge after I had worked out that day, but I'd replace the calories in less than a minute after toiling so hard to get rid of them. Burning three hundred calories is quite a workout, but not eating a chocolate bar is much much easier.

I liked your list. Here are some of my favorites:

13. If you never doubt your beliefs, then you’re wrong a lot.

26. Credit card debt devours souls. (Hell, ALL debts devour souls. Just don't.)

28. Most of what we see is only what we think about what we see.

30. The most common addiction in the world is the draw of comfort. It wrecks dreams and breaks people.

81. Life is a solo trip, but you’ll have lots of visitors. Some of them are long-term, most aren’t.

88. Killing time is an atrocity. It’s priceless, and it never grows back.

And la crème de la crème:

40. Whoever you are, you will die. To know and understand that means you are alive.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I'm getting a great reaction from all over, this post has been really popular. It's so interesting to see which ones people found the most meaningful.

Looking at the list again, I think my favorites are 72 and 17. And 8

I will definitely do a sequel one day.

Haha I know. Sure-fire sign that you're watching a bad show: the detective has ridiculous cleavage.

Interesting... that's one of the ways I know I'm watching a good show!

Hi David,

An excellent post. I'm not surprised at all that it's been popular.

My favourites;

2. It is 100 times more difficult to burn calories than to refrain from consuming them in the first place. (Something I needed to hear right now and my personal trainer will thank you immensely!)

7. Children are remarkably honest creatures until we teach them not to be.

17. Every passing face on the street represents a story every bit as compelling and complicated as yours.

20. People embellish everything, as a rule. (Yep, you just have to read my blog to know that )

22. Humans cannot destroy the planet, but we can destroy its capacity to keep us alive. And we are.

I'm starting to realise my favourites are half the list so I'll stop there. Great post! Thanks.

Default great post

Great post. Personally like 53.

Everyone thinks they’re an above average driver.

Have a friend who is afraid of driving on the highway but still thinks she drive better than the "average" drive.
