Default How to Create Amazing Creative Work

So last night, I decided to give the creative self-expression thing an honest try, and came up with this post:

How to Write An Awesome Blog Post Every Single Time

(Yes, I realize the title says "blog post" but my method can be applied to any creative work. And... Digg or Stumble if you find my post interesting and worthwhile to share? )

A lot of forum posters here are seem to be confused when it comes to creating something with value; hopefully my post can make it a bit clearer. It's hard for a lot of people to create creative work with a strong foundation, so I tried to explain my method the best way I can.

What are your methods for creating creative work, like a new song or a blog post? Does your method differ from mine in any way, shape, or form? How fast or slow do you go when creating your work? Share all of your thoughts! I'm always up for learning new ways to make the creative process more interesting.

Man, I create an awesome post EVERY WEEK, what are you talking about :V

Anyway, I usually write out an idea fast. Then I struggle to edit it, and struggle more when adding jokes. (I write jokes way too slowly, but I'm always figuring out new ways to speed up the process.) It's hard, but I love doing it.

Default Question!

What parts do you struggle the most with in the writing process?

Wow, nice. That's basically the writing process that we learn in school.

Maybe I'll write an outline first, instead of writing a blog post now.

Well, I want to get my prose as good as possible. I also have a hard time planning a joke out. My mind wanders easily while writing. I can get it done, but it's not so copy/paste.

Talking The Creative Process is Constant

The creative process is constant. That's my personal belief! What I mean by this is that our subconscious minds are constantly developing new ideas. By creative, I mean original and new. I think of our mind as a machine constantly spewing out new ideas... but it's our job to capture the good ones and utilize them. I highly recommend carrying a writing utensil and a notepad around and just jot down anything that comes to your mind

Have you ever thought about writing jokes away from the computer, before you go into writing your main stuff? Sometimes when I'm trying to write about a difficult topic, or something that has a lot of facets, I think up and create the main ideas before I even begin writing. When I get down to the actual creative process to write, I can insert what I created beforehand and fill in the blanks as I go along.

The best ideas I've ever come up with always come in flashes of inspiration, or when I'm purposely trying to seek out new connections between existing ideas. (I actually wrote about this very topic in my post on how to create fresh, new ideas, tip #3!)

Kinda curious now, have you found that you get your best ideas at any certain time?

Interestingly enough, I find my best ideas come when I'm doing something that takes up a minimal amount of physical and mental capacity. A walk in the park while listening to music... just enough conscious mind and body activity for the subconscious to "flash" its works!

I'll try that. It's really trying to find all the possible connections that can be difficult.
