Default What speed reading or photoreading really delivers ?

Hi all,

I'm new to this board, 37 year-old dude who went back to university and still have three more years of attendance ahead of me. Since I've gone through a heck of a lot of reading and that I've had no life at a stage in my life where I should have one, I decided to look into methods to make me a LOT more effective.

I've been researching the topic of speed reading for months now.

I've seen Reading genius, photoreading, Quantum speed reading mainly, aside from a few other speed reading softwares like speedreader X to and rocket reader to only name a few. There's also Raiford Dudley's speedreading world, who claims he has the only speed reading system to generate right brain activation, whatever that is.

I assume this place harbors experienced members who've gone my route before and whom I could benefit a lot or at least save me precious time. I sure don't mind investing time to master any method, provided that it works as advertised for most people, although one's mileage may vary to an extent.

I'd be very appreciative if someone would take of his time to enlighten me on this topic and suggest whatever method is best.

I have no first hand experience with speed reading or photoreading or some sort. But I know Steve Pavlina has written a few articles about the subject.

One the internet very few things are fully as there advertised.
On this forum there are a few people who use photoreading techniques on a regular basis and find them benefitial.
Searching a bit around in this forum should give you more information.

I'm at the moment thinking about creating a website that helps people to learn speed reading that actually measures people's improvement in their reading speed and comprehension accurately. But it's still in the planning stage.

Thanks, at least this is a start, perhaps others will chime in later. I've been searching the hits I got for speed reading on these boards.
