Default 30-Day Challenge - Reduce Computer Time

I've been spending way too much time on the computer. So, I'm making a habit so that I can reduce my time on the computer.

Jun 18-Jul 18 2009

Jun 18 2009:
8:30AM-11:00AM
2 hours & 30 minutes
11:28-11:30AM
2 hours & 32 minutes
1:00PM-3:30PM
5 hours & 2 minutes
4:00PM-6:00PM
7 hours & 2 minutes
7:00PM-8:30PM
8 hours & 32 minutes

Aww, rats! I'll try to reduce it to 7 hours instead.

What are you planning to do with your time instead?

When I gave up computer time, it was so I had more time to read books, spend time with friends, and some other things. What are you giving it up for?

One application that may be usefull for monitoring this is RescueTime , that way you get the exact information.

(It seems to have a free and a paid version now, when I used it a few months ago it was still in beta and completely free, so not sure of the feature differences)

My own experiences say the same thing as Daffy here. It is easy to "give something up" but if you don't have a replacement for it, how are you going to stick with your decision?

As I was reading the posts about reducing computer time, it occurred to me that I have no real idea of how many hours I am on my computer daily. Now I know it's a lot, but I think just as a start I am going to monitor how much time is spent and doing what, because I think that's important for me to know to get a realistic view of where my time and energy is spent.

I wish you well on the reduction of your time on the computer.

Really? Then why is all you're showing us how much time you spend on the computer?

It's all you're writing about. You're even being obsessive about it - by writing down the exact number of minutes. It's all you're focusing on. And it's all we see.

How about writing a little about hanging out with your friends and what you did, and about your favorite book, and about your studies...
