Default Up at 6:30

Went to sleep at 12:30, woke up at 6:30, guess I can't sleep four hours every night? Anyway, even though the goal of 5am wasn't met, I still feel pretty good, since I only slept for 6 hours, and up to very close to bed time, I was feeling productive. Maybe going to bed around 12 and waking up at 5 is all right? My energy level hasn't suffered at all because of the late nights. It only decreases, when I get up at an earlier time, again, supporting my theory that it's not about how long you sleep or how late you go to bed, but about the consistency of the wake-up time. Gotta work on that! Back to 5am tomorrow!

Default Lazy Saturday morning

Woke up at 6, slept in until 8. Went to sleep around 12am. 8 hours is a lot for me, considering that the day before, it was 5.5 hours, and the day before that, it was 5 hours. My nap only lasted 20 minutes yesterday because I just didn't have time. I don't mind having one day of sleeping in. Saturday is a good day for it too, since it's usually my relax and socialize day. Tomorrow, it's back to 5am This trial has been going on for a while ha ha Hopefully, I won't stretch it too much longer. I'll get through it eventually!

Default Major Update

It has been five weeks, since I first started. My first ten days went very smoothly, until I got sick, and my schedule was thrown off. I never seemed to get back into the flow, although I woke up at 5am on a lot of days.

Now for the good news: I feel like an early riser for sure! I started off with waking 9-10am a couple of month ago. Then went to waking up at 7am for a week or so, and then at 6am for two solid weeks. I got into the habit of waking up at 6am, and feeling very normal the rest of the day, not tired or sleepy. In fact, when I woke up at 8, I felt like I overslept. I naturally seem to go to bed at 12am. I think it would be 11am, if not for family wanting to stay up late. So the flow I settled into now is 12-6am with 30 minutes to an hour nap in the afternoon.

What's next:
1. Getting into the habit of going to bed at 11pm.
2. Getting up at 5am until I consistently get up at 5 for three weeks.

Very simple!

New strategy:
Conditioning myself to get up before the alarm goes off.

Great! How great it is to be an early riser and not to be tired during the day. Good luck with your new strategy!

Thanks, I love it! I'll let you know how it goes. I know Steve talked about setting the intention to wake up before falling asleep, I think. Either way, I remember when I was younger, a lot of times I did wake up before I was woken up by my mom. Also, when I have something really important I have to do, I do wake up before the alarm, but it has something like an important appointment.
