Default How do you help people?

I read the lightworker/darkworker articles and am still weighing the pros and cons of each. I initially thought of posing a question to darkworkers but I figured if you're a darkworker and you're hanging around here...then you're not fully polarized.

So this question is posed to lightworkers. How do you help people? Be specific. Here's particularly what interests me.
1. Small things you do daily that don't cost (money, energy) you very much
(e.g. offering advice on the forum, give dollar or two to homeless)
2. Your larger projects. (and are the services you offer free or do you charge?)
3. Your personal reflections on what you do? If you can, how have you improved over the last year or two? (ups and downs)
4. When did you consciously become a lightworker?
5. In your life, have you ever gone dark for longer than 6 months. What happened there?

You don't have to answer everything but please number your answers so I can see the corresponding question.

For personal reasons, I'm going to exclude Internet blogs or SBI sites. If you fall into those categories, I don't dislike what you do but your values and my values are completely different. If you offer some other service beyond blogging over the Internet, I'd interested in hearing about that.
----
If you're not a not so fully polarized darkworker still hanging around here, I'd be interesting in hearing what you're up to (preferably through PM), answering the questions in the same format posed above.

1. I try to do the more interesting thing. If my options are "sit around" or "other", I'll try to push myself to do "other". Sometimes that manifests as helpful, as in "help with dinner" instead of "sit around", other times it manifests as just... interesting.

2. Most of my lightworker energy goes toward my large project, the Freak Revolution. We're creating a paradigm shift in people's consciousness to change the world. (I guess the same could be said of Steve, although we're each going about it in different ways.) We give away some stuff for free (e.g. an e-book) and offer other services for money. The other services are coaching, workshops (in person and online), and information products to help people with various kinds of personal growth.

3. The biggest change for me over the past year or two has been claiming my power to start the Freak Revolution. Before that, we (my wife Kyeli and I) were helping people improve communication in their relationships. This was awesome and we were helping people, but it wasn't enough. We wanted to be part of a movement to change the world. And since we didn't find a movement that fit us, we created one. It was terrifying to step into that power, to say "I am powerful enough to be a leader." The weight of it has felt crushing at times, and heady at other times. But it was the right choice. I feel more aligned with my heart and soul now that I'm acting in alignment with this purpose.

5. Nope. My personal struggle hasn't been between light and dark, it's been between light and lazy. Between light and neutral gray twilight. I've struggled with that off and on; part of me just wants to curl up in a ball and play video games all day. But when I actually indulge that part of myself, I get bored pretty quickly, and I get hungry for connection and feeling part of something meaningful.

Hope this helps! (:

small:
I used to gladly give 1-5$, plus whole meals, even twice housing 'homeless' people; until I realized that sadly too many care less about receiving all such as the "Hands-UP help" such was intended for. - Too many exist, in-love with doubly destructive habits: alcoholism, drugs, sexual perversions, & worse. - A depraved-mind, with NO intention of changing, is a terrible waste of resources.

However, service especially amongst vulnerable: children, adults mislabeled as 'crazy', & the aged <- such Volunteer contribution time... far exceeds, the years spent earning our daily bread. Why? - because selfless service amounts to one of the most rewarding activities you could enjoy!
Imagine --> helping individuals ASKing to heal (soul, or mind, & body) <-- for enjoying what they want and richly deserve... a win-win for sure.

"Larger"? projects: you mean beyond us humans helping
selflessly... (were you thinking of God ) well as humans, yet we can guide, & lead to much good!

re money: I've often asked "why can't all billions of people on this planet earth simply just get along, by each selflessly sharing our various humanitarian-resources, you with this developed skill & talent, and me with another. - Really, what social-needs can you think of, that by this means could not be satisfied?
But since the planet's inhabitants aren't fit functioning in this way, I guess we need to work for money, sigh.
-
Additionally, we share many personal passions, including one of the most fun... sports

And what about you?, and your passions...

Improvements continue being made in competent practices of skill..., & confidence...

(including in our sport in which to initial good flexability, as well as balance,
also being added are Core strength & stability, plus strength & power)

Same intent: encouraging people shedding limiting beliefs, in favor of stretching human(itarian) development...

re 'dark = situational?? depression' maybe. In that case, what of people in abysmal circumstances (harmful religions, abusive families, stolen organs, concentrations camps, prisons, wildernesses, etc sigh). - What can you say,
except: That, which does not kill you outright, you can help yourself, plus others, to peacefully empower yourself with enabling change, to live at-cause, iow joyful & free...

Lightworker? - you mean as far as "to live, is Christ"

(After born into atheism, & by that empoverished religion indoctrinated); yet my conscious but really my subconscious mind led me as a small child, feeling & knowing there is a better way, and enough open-minded, (escaped earlier walls) and walked thru the open door - and the views in this horizon just continue expanding...

Is this what you were looking for? Hopefully it has been helpful

I still see myself as both. More of a yin yang type of mentality than a "I'm a Lightworker" or "I'm a Darkworker".

1.
I help others by helping myself just as much as I directly help others. Think of it this way: If the current me can help 5 people where I'm at. Then how many more people could I help if I doubled my income? How many more people could I help if I improved my leadership skills? How much more time would I have to help others if I learned how to fail? Etc...

This includes going to the library for books, (Or the bookstore once you're comfortable spending money on yourself) spending 10% of my total income on myself, spending time developing new skills to propel me further along, and paying a good friend of mine to coach me in business, sales, and people.

On the giving side I have formed a personal development group with 3 other younger friends, We are starting up a community for the Christian groups that want to return to what is real and genuine, I do one on one accountability with all 3 of those members, and I have in the past done things like volunteer at the local science museum, chess events and other such things.

2.
My larger tasks would involve the community. Additionally I have a long term goal that I am actively working on via the PD group and community.

3. Improvements, my ability to talk with others, my ability to lead, my time management, goal setting, goal achieving, momentum, taking the time to rest and simply be me, my confidence, my courage, my accountability, and a whole lot more. I can't even begin to tell you how different I was from even 3 months ago, let alone a year ago.

4.
I became a lightworker when I made the decision to be greater than I am today and to impact billions of lives, directly or indirectly. At the same time I also chose to be a darkwalker and to make sure that never would others be more important than me with the exception of God. I cannot give what I do not have. So if I am empty I need to either get a divine recharge from God, or spend the time to recharge myself.

5. dark as in Darkworker? Assuming that is what you meant:
I go darkworker all the time. I dedicate an hour a day to what I want to do, and 5 on weekends. This includes video games, fiction books, legos, and writing a video game. I had been doing two a day but right now my time schedule calls for a bit more flexibility so I'm only concentrating on one. The other usually just happens anyways. I pay myself first so I can get new books, more coaching and more training. All in all I spend most of my time trying to selfishly improve who I am as a human being and then allowing the people I impact to simply be a natural cause of who I AM, and not what I do.

This serves as an edit to my original post.
There seems to be some confusion about lightworkers and darkworkers. The main article is here
Are You a Lightworker or a Darkworker?

If you haven't read the article or heard of the concept, chances are you haven't made a FULL commitment to it. EVERYTHING you do should be about helping other people (lightworker) or helping yourself(darkworker). Yes, both concepts involve working on yourself and mastering yourself.

For the lightworker, you have to work on yourself to develop tools and skills for helping other people.
For the darkworker, you have to do the opposite. Everything you do has to benefit you. For example, a person could pretend to be lightworker for the longest time just for the prestige and the money.

Steve used a biological metaphor which made a lot of sense. Normal biological cell = lightworker; cancer cell = darkworker.

If you haven't committed, you're somewhere in between the gradient constantly moving up and down depending on the circumstances.

My query was posited specifically to those who have committed to lightwork or darkwork for a significant length of time.

Being a lightworker doesn't necessarily mean you have to donate, volunteer or give. It simply means you are living in a way that is congruent with "the light."

You could write a book that people buy, giving you financial freedom, that helps them live a better life, for example.

I have to say I think the idea of 'polarity' is completely unnatural and incongruent with everything else in our reality. Seeing people who think they must force themselves into one or another camp is saddening me. There is so much you will miss out on when you have to choose to live one way or the other. It's also divisive which never seems to be the right road no matter what the subject. I think the only realm that this would make sense in is one where you are the only source of consciousness. Oops...I guess Steve covers that little problem with Subjective Reality.

You can't force yourself to do something especially something lifelong. It's an uphill battle you're going to lose. Being a lightworker or darkworker is a calling, which is why Steve said that only a minority of people fully polarize. It's an interesting debate but I really don't want to discuss that in this thread. You're welcome to create another and I'll join in but I want to reserve this thread primarily for seasoned lightworkers to share what they are up to.

What if you grow up with a tendency to be selfish and instead of assuming that was your "calling" you assumed you were put on earth to balance that trait and learn from it?

If a kid is a brat, why does Steve assume that he is destined to be an even more skillful adult version of a brat? Or if someone can't say "no" to people when it comes to giving of themselves, to the point of dysfunction, why assume it is a good or natural state? Rather than one to be tempered? Balanced?

I just do not get it...
