| Day 15: woke up at 8! Ok not at 7, but one hour later is good for me, i am guiltfree then. More than an hour later is not good. I start to feel better every day, the strange thing is though that my energy-peakmoments are at very different times! I have loads of energy in the morning and daytime, but some hours less so. Then in the evening - my old energypeaking moment - i feel really tired and at a certain moment i cannot do anything anymore, just watch a great movie. Which is ok, as a last enjoyment after having a succesfull day. And as i was used to eat quit late, i have to change that too. Yesterday i ate way too late and not enough so i felt really bad. These changes will take a while but i am very happy to have gone this road. At the same time i have enough energy to do my work and i take no naps. Naps are for me personally another meeting with my enemy: the alarmclock. And destroying the alarmclock one time a day is enough really. I am to afraid i will not wake up after a nap. For other people they might work well, maybe for me too in the future. As i have animals at home, it is interesting to see their rythm changin too. They sleep a lot more in the daytime I am still thinking about my july-goal: waking up at 6 and going to the gym every morning. Whew what a goal!! It does sound good to me, because when i don't go there then i really know it is not for me. When waking up at 6 or even earlier, i will have so much time so i might even get bored when i don't go to the gym Goal tomorrow: really 7 o'clock! |

| Day 16: woke up at 8 I am still happy this is going like it is. The fact that my energylevels on the day are very different and that i have to eat lunch/dinner much earlier are very strange to me. I am over 30 so maybe it is that also: i'm getting older Yesterday at 18:00 i was supertired, after a walk that did not help i took some coffee and i crashed really. At 22:30 i went to bed but could not sleep untill 24:00 (ggreat). As i work for myself, mostly at home, it is more difficult i think because i have a lot of time to think about me beiing tired Goal tomorrow: if i manage to sleep on time at 7, otherwise no later then 8. |

| Woke up at... ... ... SEVEN. 7! Yeah. I realised that i had to wake up at 7 yesterday too, but because of other things i had to do i did not think about that. But here we are, at 7, feeling good, feeling great and keeping it that way! Tomorrow my goal is 7 again. Last edited by tsjechov; 07-01-2009 at 11:50 AM. |

Each of us are programmed to need a certain allotment of sleep per day. I have learned over the years that when I sleep in later, I'm usually sleeping longer hours which goes over the allotted amount of rest I need. When I get too much sleep, I am sluggish and get less done during the day. I've found that I'm most productive and creative after I wake up from a sound sleep with just enough rest (sort of like Goldilocks and the Three Bears - it has to be just right). Anyway, I think you need to learn your sleep/productivity ratio. That's the first step. The next step is to develop a solid routine for bedtime and wake time. Hi LifeFirst, good luck too you! Hi Kaybee, thnx for you message. Well i can agree with you, oversleeping does not work for me too. That was my problem when i had that nightly artist rhythm, but i just did not seem to wake up and also get out of bed too. Now that i wake up at a more 'natural time', so between 7 and 9 for the last weeks, i really get out of bed more easy and i have more energy. And also the creativity, i have most of that in the evening and sometimes too much really, that is still there. So beiing nicy nicy early risy did not block that I need to go to a solid wake time... my bedtime will come naturally then. I do notice that alcohol does not work in this... When i drink 1,2 glasses of beer or wine i get more awake and don't want the evening to end. So i go to bed later. Hmm. Better not to drink or only at dinner for the next days. |

Thanks for you motivational words, thats nice, Ben Hot baths are great as are warm herbteas and reading in bed... today i woke up at 9, slept again till 10. :-( Something has got to change NOW or i will be back at 12 in no time. I have to change again because my early rising pattern is starting to slip away. What will i do: 1. Change morningroutine: start with excercising in the morning. Some dancemoves, martial arts too. Next week start at the gym again in the morning (used to go in the evenings, long ago). This way i get more tired in the evening. 2. Change morningroutine: no internet right away. Reading again, writing diary and movin. 3. Change diet: Drink nothing/less alcohol. I just do way less and sleep too late because i drink sometimes. More fruits, veggies, herbtea. 4. Change eveningroutine: Hot bath if i am totally awake, warm herbteas, reading in bed, dimming the light. Help! And yeah!! I will feel better if i do that, it's getting out of hand... Goal tomorrow: wake up at 8 Last edited by tsjechov; 07-18-2009 at 01:00 PM. |

Woke up at 9 again, totally tired of yesterday... as my cat peed on my bed 2 days ago - so i sleep on an airmatras, which only works for 4 hours and then the air goes out. Good trick to wake up early for sure! But not healthy. Well as i am doing very good on other goals i can have a low like this Tomorrow 7 or 8! |

In the last 2 weeks I cut down from 10 hours sleep to 7. Going to bed at 12:30 and waking at 7:30 - it's not difficult for as long as you maintain discipline. Make sure you set two alarms, shower in the morning to avoid early fatigue, and unwind before you go to sleep by reading in soft light. I'm now working on having 6 hours sleep, with a 30 minute nap in the afternoon and so far it's going great!

| Woke up at 9:00 feeling totally refreshed. What can i say, i am still not there where i want to be, but somewhere way better than before! I feel totally good during the day and go to sleep earlier. I know from experience that it is very difficult for me, as everyone has his/her difficulties. This is mine! As i have other goals and priorities i will write less here, maybe once or twice a week. Otherwise this topic gets a bit boring |
