When someone has a breakthrough and suddenly realizes they want to be a musician more than anything they devote their life to becoming a musician. It is challenging, but the challenges seem like butterflies because the goal is so inspiring. But what about those goals on the other side of the coin where instead of just improving something neutral your intention is to fix a problem that has bugged you your entire life. I enjoy the fresh exciting goals but no matter what way I look at planning, being productive, and doing good in school (power corner of the triangle) it just seems bitter and hopeless most of the time. I am really lazy now. I have succeeded at these things in the past but each step was painful and my progress always failed me after three weeks at best. I definitely don't see dropping out of high school or just avoiding these things as a reasonable option. I have tried LoA to plain hard work and it never lasts. I would love to hear your view point and experiences if this sounds at all familiar to you. How do you see this situation from a positive perspective and act on it with results that last years. |

I think that LOA really works, but sometimes there are things in our lives we want to accomplish, but they are not really in line with who we are. A lot of times, these things are rules imposed by other people on us, but it can still help us. I would suggest trying to focus your LOA on the things you DO feel positive about. I think that will help you get through the harder things. If you are mostly feeling happy about some things in your life, the harder things will go by faster and seem easier because you will be in a good mood. One thing that REALLY helps me with difficult situations is I try to see the situation as something in myself, created by myself, in my subconscious or whatever. This helps because then I don't feel as helpless, like I am being controlled by the external world. This also helps me feel that I have access to the answers because they are inside me, and makes me more open to seeing opporunities and possibilities. Sometimes in the past, when I have felt that things were hopeless, it was because I thought that I knew all there was to know about the situation or the possibilities. Often when we feel hopeless, that is actually an alarm inside us telling us "You're wrong!" It means there is some information we don't have or we are not looking at things from a helpful point of view. Just don't give up. Realize that you CAN change your perspective and try to stop focusing on negative thoughts. Upsetting thoughts usually try to convince us that they are really important by making us feel really awful, but that is actually a sign that the thoughts are not true! Whenever you have a negative thought (like about your situation) try 1) noticing it 2) deciding you don't want to think it 3) thinking a positive thought instead. The positive thought doesn't have to be super great, just better than the bad one. At first, this might seem awkward or hard, but if you keep doing it, it will get easier and easier, and the thoughts will get better and better, and you'll feel better about the whole thing. Hope this helps! Spongesue |

I remember it felt good to be the best of my class On the other hand, school is nothing more then training. Training for life, creativity, mental exercise and so on. I'm sure you can fill in more then I can. So there are many goals to find exciting. Do never forget, that a problem is only a problem in the eye of the beholder. |

Hi, Not sure what LOA is? But I would say that one thing that could help is someone to keep you accountable. I know that's made a huge difference in my accomplishment of goals. We often break promises to ourselves, but hesitate to do it to others. Why don't you try a 30 day challenge on this forum. Keep updating your progress on here, and people will be watching to make sure you keep going for the 30 days. Even better would be to get friends and family to keep you on track. |
