Hi I was thinking a lot about self development and tried to find what are fundamentals to success. I would like to know your idea because I would like to spend more time in studying this three fundamentals. 1. Energy Having constant positive body, mental, emotional energy. This means eating good, exercise, attitude etc etc etc. 2. Focus Being able to direct this energy the right way and right place in your life. 3. Learning Way how to approach any skill and any area in life and how to learn as fast as possible. Something like what is Tim Ferris doing , hi find best approach to learn new language, learn swim etc etc etc. I know this is little high five so maybe you don't have clear idea what I mean by each category. If so let me know. I am curious. |

| 4. Action ? This seems to be missing from your list and I don't understand why. Only after Action you can go back to 3. and make some adjustments, learn and try different approaches, and then repeat the cycle. Of course, Energy and Focus need to be constantly nurtured too. |

I reference them as the 5-Pillars of Greatness... 1. Purpose 2. Health/Energy 3. Stress management (ability to put stress in the right context in your life) 4. Overcoming Fear (which keeps you from living your purpose) 5. Focus and Fine Tuning (making sure you stay on course) The order is very important - health/energy is a killer for many people - they may know what they want, have a great plan - but they are paralyzed by poor energy and health - and yes, it is more than just eating well and exercise. Rajec, I think you've got a great start. And I think what you've written is more concise than the "5-pillars of Greatness." Example: 3. Stress management. That's nonsense. 4. Overcoming Fear. More nonsense. Even the idea that there are "5" pillars - is nonsense and poor design. Good structural design would contain 4 pillars - one in each corner. Often symbolized by the square. 1. Purpose - is going to be contained in "Energy," because discovering the right purpose is just a matter of working at/with/towards the highest level of energy. Now, "action" was suggested, except I can see action in each one of your "keys." I was thinking "communication," but that would be a subset of your 2. Focus Your 3. learning - I, think, could be made more effective and concise by calling it... well, I dunno. And I'm thinking that even "learning" is a subset of your 1. energy and 2. focus. And, in fact, your 1 and 2 contains the learning key. You could call 3 "discovery," but, then again, that's already included in your 1 and 2. Let's keep boiling down... : ) How about if we arrive at the single master key: Energy. Or, as Einstein called it, "E." Cheers... Last edited by Dot; 06-18-2009 at 03:58 PM. |
