Default Owning My Life

I had my first session with a Life Coach last week - it was *amazing*! Just having someone outside of me look at my "stuff" objectively and give me feedback was very valuable.

I got a little piece of knowledge, which in reality isn't so little.

I had filled out a long questionnaire before we met, and the final part of that was telling her the areas on which I'd like to focus. Here's what I wrote:

1 MOVE FORWARD
I have clear goals to achieve the life I want, and an action plan and accountability on doing those little (and big) things that will help me achieve them.

2 PUTTING MYSELF OUT THERE
I take risks and promote myself and my services. (drum circles, intuitive readings, reiki) I am comfortable with recognizing my value and asking for compensation. I offer my services when I see they would be helpful. I don’t let fear of what others might think stop me.

3 ORDERLY HOME
My home is clean and in order. Things are put away when we’re done with them. Piles of paper, clothing, books, etc. are short-lived. I feel comfortable having anyone come over and looking in any room. We do not have things we don’t need or love. Spaces and rooms are organized, open, lovely and inviting. People feel comfortable making messes and living in and using the space.

4 ORDERLY FINANCES
My finances are in order. I pay my bills on time, and do not accrue debt. I have savings enough for emergency situations. I am comfortable each month with paying bills and taking care of our needs, and we have enough left over for plenty of our wants. We are able to take advantages of opportunities that come up. I am able to donate or offer money to causes or people I believe in.

5 PHYSICALLY FIT
I feel alive in my own body. I am energetic and not overweight. I have strength and stamina. I am up for physical challenges.

We talked a bit about prioritizing these desires. She let me know that it's completely my call, but one thing to consider was that if my finances were in order, then this new life I was giving birth to wouldn't be born into chaos. It could be born into stability.

My first thought - and I was freely sharing my first thoughts with her, because I've found there's a lot of potential for growth and awareness when you look at those - was "but the baby comes! The baby comes when it's ready, whether it's into chaos or order."

She said something completely revolutionary! She said, "Yes, but you have some room for choice here. You can be thoughtful and make a plan about this."

WHAT?! Oh! Wait. What? Wowwwwww....

Before I met with her, I was chatting with a friend, and I was telling her what I thought the coaching was about, and for. I said, "You know - clarifying your goals, making an action plan... oh, wait! I feel like I'm speaking a foreign language!" She laughed and said, "Goal? Goal's what my jewelry's made from!" Up 'til now, I've kind of rolled with what is, and what comes up. It's worked OK for me, too - I've made a life that I love. I see where I need to make some changes, though, and I'd been stuck about that, hence my finding a coach.

This idea - I can *create* my life - I thought I got. I knew it was about saying "no" to what you don't want... but the idea of actively creating my life? As in - taking action to do that? Like I said, it was like a foreign language. The first time I thought about that was in my session with Angela last year - and the energy I felt in my session with her about the kind of life I could have if I dropped my old limiting beliefs is some powerful, powerful stuff!

To go from passive acceptance and limited creation to taking responsibility and acting in the world to CREATE my life is HUGE.

I got some other insights from our session, too, but... I've been chewing on that one thing all weekend. I can plan when the baby (the new portion of my life) comes! I can create an ideal space first! I have a choice!!

I know many, many people on this forum know this already. I'm so grateful to you guys for showing me that again and again since the time I joined here! It's all part of the journey!

I need to say, too, the most recent article that had a HUGE impact, and I'm sure helped that awareness be ready to flower was Abuse of Power. I love that article.

You recently started to love your life? That makes two of us.

You love my life, too?

Actually - I created a life I loved, then I started to NOT love parts of it. I got stuck there for a bit, and scared, and convinced I didn't deserve more. Pah - forget that! I love my life enough to act in its best interest! So, yeah, I love my life.

And, oh, man, saying that out loud - I was suicidally depressed not too many years ago. I'm so glad I stuck around!

I'm glad to hear that. I also had some suicidal thoughts years ago.

It's freeing, in a way - I remember a moment of clarity, the last time, the very last time, I was depressed. Out of the fog, I had a thought: If I'm willing to die, if I'm not going to be here - why not go for the big shebang? I mean - if I can think of losing everything, including my life - what is there left to lose? Why not go for what I want?

My life is a big ship - it takes a long time to turn around - but that was a start.

Hey, Caren -- you know that holding that metaphor keeps it in place, right?

Your unconscious mind hears you say that, and because it is eager to please you, it will follow your instructions and be that big ship that takes a long time to turn around.

The way I see it is your thoughts ARE your life -- literally, the thoughts you choose determine how your life is occuring right now.

So why not think thoughts that work really well? Your unconscious mind wants to change on a dime -- quickly, easily and effortlessly. And if you continually instruct it with beliefs that it changes slowly, it will comply.

Did you ever walk in a crowd, and imagine yourself to be like a speedy Porsche, vroom vroom, changing lanes and moving with velocity, precision, and power, passing people left and right while all around you the masses are meandering like fat sheep? Give it a try sometime, and you'll find that your thoughts will act like the gas pedal in a performance automobile, putting you far ahead of where you were back when you were thinking Gremlin thoughts. (That's a pun, did you get it? ) Your beliefs will actually fuel energy throughout your body.

The same is true for everything you want to accomplish. Try switching to high performance beliefs, and find out what a speed demon you can be in getting the results you want. Try it with your coach -- think of her as your pit crew -- operating with precision and lightning speed to help you get yourself operating as a winner!

Glad to see you love your life and own it as well instead of letting someone else be in charge of it

I never pictured the car analogy - but I am very, very good at zipping my way, kids in tow, through crowds. I find the path! I can't think now of what it's called, but what I picture are those microscopic creatures in lake water - there are some that just kind of bob around, and some that are like - ZIP - right through everything.

No more Gremlin thoughts! Or Pinto ones, for that matter.

Thanks for the reminder.
