| Hi I am new. I read Steve's article on motivation. The article at: http://www.stevepavlina.com/articles...ing-desire.htm that is. The section on how other people can rub off on you is so true for me. My Mom, brother, and sister, are very lazy. They don't usually wake up until about 3pm. This is true for me too however. The thing is, since I can't change them or get rid of them, could the people on this forum act as my motivation? Could they counter balance my family? Thanks |

| We can sure try. How can we help you? Tell us what you need. To ask us to "motivate you" is pretty general. Do you have a question? Do you need a tip about how to do some particular thing? Do you notice something holding you back that we can make suggestions for how to get past? What do you want to be motivated ABOUT, or what do you want to feel motivated TO DO? Mostly I think motivation comes from within, but sometimes support and advice can help you overcome obstacles or fears that are actually blocking what otherwise would be a natural motivation to do something. Can you identify any of these things in yourself? I'll be watching for more info. |

This forum can help a bit. Finding highly motivated people in your real life to hang around will give you a good boost. Lastly, it is a myth that you need to feel motivated to do something, to actually get started on doing it and enjoy it. Think of all of the things you do in a day where you don't even stop to notice if you are motivated or not. Think of all of the things you put off doing and once you did you saw it wasn't so bad or even felt exhilarated doing it. Once you start something motivation will follow. Don't wait for motivation. Doing makes motivation.......not the other way around. You aren't a sail boat waiting for a gust of wind. You are a generator where once you start moving you generate energy. |

| I agree with Yoshi. I see so much of what my family has done (nothing) and think that I've got to do better. Spend sometime reading about people that have done something with their life, and know that if you can dream it you can do it. That should be pretty motivating.
