i only just found this site a while ago and it looks really good so i registered because i think i really need motivation right now and i don't really know if i even posted in the right thread so im sorry if it isn't. But okay i have exams going on and the first two exams i have done havn't gone to well and this is because i didn't really revise as i spent to much time on the internet. And i am someone who goes on to the internet with the intention of doing work but drifts on to websites such as youtube and imdb and i start to watch all the programs which i would normally watch on tv on the internet. I still have just over a week till my final 3 exams and i havn't done much revision because i just spend my time on the internet and i have tried to stay away from the inernet but i need it for revision material but on doing this i waste a huge amount of time on websites such as youtube. i so now have a feeling i will end up retaking the year. does anyone know how i could stop my self from wasting time on the internet? so i can do what i am supposed to be doing. |

the only reason why you like the internet as you are getting something out of it....so if your exams motivated you more, then you would be doing that, it makes sense.... there is no pill you can pop, barr structuring yourself, give yourself a couple of hours a night on it...make it your reward, for doing all that boring stuff we don't want to do, but have to do, to have a functioning balanced life x maybe also find something away from the net that you actually enjoy.... |

I'll talk to you how I talk to myself so skip it if you don't want to hear it. You know how you ended up here. You know how to get out of here as well. You know what to do about it but your just being a p*ssy about it. You need motivation? Go hang out with the bums in the street and so see how hard they have to live. Do you wanna end up like that? Go on and continue doing the same ♥♥♥♥♥. This is your life and you want people to care about your life? Thats funny. Grow some balls man. This is your life man so own it. Thats it. P'z (P.S. Don't ban me for this) -Franciz |

Do you know already what sites you need for your studying? can you spend a few hours just getting all the material together and then unplugging your internet cable for days at a time? I have 2 days a week where I don't put the computer on at all because of the sheer waste of time that takes place when I get on the internet - eg 3 hours out of being up 4 hours have been lost already today! Basically I switch it off before bed on a Monday night and it stays off til Wednesday. Same on Friday nights, its off thru til Sunday. |

Try to leave yourself some sort of visual reminder of what you are intending to focus on (your exams!). You could use sticky notes, tape a piece of paper to your monitor, or put something on the wall or desk right in front of you. The key is to place it somewhere where you will notice it when you sitting at your computer. I'll suggest you use an affirmation for as the reminder. The piece of paper may contain a sentence to remind you what you are doing or what you want done. These are two example : "I'm doing my exams" or "My exams are complete." One last thing. When you notice the note, remember why you placed the note there in the first place. Remember how you felt at the time you created the note. Those exams are important! Good luck! |

x 2. Franciz put it immaculately This aint complicated. This is adult life. discipline. you dont even need affirmation. Just picture getting a mediocre grade, and picture how you will feel knowing you could have done better. The struggle with self-discipline is something we all go through. It will continue for life. But come results day - You are going to experience 1 of 2 realities. 1. A grade you are proud of 2. A grade that makes you say "I f***ed up Self discipline = Making myself do, what I should do, whether I FEEL like it OR NOT, or whether I feel like doing other things that gratify me in the moment You know what to do GET IT DONE Last edited by Orecle; 05-20-2009 at 01:44 PM. | |
