Default Most Important Business Lesson by John Detitta

Prepare To Fail said by John Detitta

I know, I know, this goes against every motivational book you read and all the tapes you listened to preparing yourself for your business launch. It is imperative that you listen to this lesson and any good attorney will tell you the same. Look, if you start from the bottom the only way you can go is up, right?

And each success puts you further up the ladder. More importantly you are protecting yourself from day one. "Prepare to Fail" means have your business set up correctly, seek the advice of a smart attorney and either start out as a Corporation, an LLC, or some identity that will protect you and your family if something happens with your business.

If you use this basis in all your dealing with investors, every contract you put together is protecting you if your business doesn't succeed. You will be thankful many times over that you did.

What do you say guys.. Do you think like this as john detitta has written?

Judging by the first sentence of this "lesson", I think it's just marketing for capturing the attention. I don't see how it relates to the core of the lesson, setting up a corporation so that you are protected. Isn't it just common sense?

This is the worst advice I have ever heard.

I would advice completetely the opposite:

"Prepare to succeed"

because then you straight away get into the positive mindset and thus you will achieve success much quicker.

When you start business having doubts and being negative, you are looking at years of struggle and hard work.

When you start business being enthusiastic and inspired, you are looking at enjoyment all the way to success.

And a note about 'gurus' - people listen to the teachers that are just above their vibration. So if you are in dispair, you will not listen to the teacher that is in the state of joy or enlightenment.

So even if this person teaches false information, to some people it makes total sense because e.g., a depressed person will not be convinced that he can succeed only by being inspired most of the time. That would sound like a total nonsense to him. I hope you caught my drift. Sorry for a long post, I am just in the writing mode

Default Thought

I have looked through this forum and found many great posts. It's nice to be part of a positive forum community and hope I can contribute.

This post hit me as I had started a consulting business a few years ago and ran into a similiar situation. I agree that all of us starting a business need to be motivated and positive! However, I learned in that consultant practice, that things happen and I wish I had set things up differently from the start. I believe what the Alex is saying is that we need to "turn-off" that positive feeling for the time we are setting up business and then turn it back on again when we begin again. It is common sense, but we are not common people

A lot of us will carry that "positive energy" all the time and overlook things that can go wrong and not to protect us. Thanks for the post Alex!

(I pinged you for more info)

Simona, thanks for articulating something that I've observed in myself and others, but never put into words.
