Default A little trick that make you appear smarter

Hi,

I have a trick that you might be interested in.

If you want to feel and appear smarter, try it.

Every day, you choose a word and a piece of information that you don't know. You write it down in a book. You revise it a couple of time. You try to use it a least 5 times per day. Now, you memorize permanently.

Try it and you can see the difference.

bye

meh, why would you want to APPEAR smarter? Who are you trying to impress?

In time, after you do that for about 30 days, it'll take more and more effort to retain that knowledge.

Reading a book is one thing, but memorizing random disconnected facts is probably not a great idea.

Personally, I'd rather appear dumb and be a genius than look smart

Meh???

This is for your personal knowledge. This is clearly not for you, so past on. I read it in a book and I find it interesting.

anyway, maybe the other people will be interested.

Chillax is mostly reacting to the poorly-chosen word "appear" in the thread title.

Your suggestion to build knowledge and confidence is a good one.

The problem is that your subject title suggests faking intelligence rather than developing it for real.

Hi,

Everything is in the words we choose. It can make a big difference.

Anyway, we can post everything we want. The people like to talk about them. lol

Good way to learn new words. And it wouldn't be just appearing smarter, you actually would be. You are actually learning new vocabulary.

I think its a great idea. Even if you forget some of the words as time goes on, should you ever come across that word in the future you'll know exactly what it means. If you remember only a third of the words you learn over the space of a year that's 120 words that you've learnt, not bad. To quote Tony Robbins in his book 'Awaken The Giant Within', "A related distinction is that if you don't have a way of representing something, you can't experience it. While it may be true that you can picture something without having a word for it, or you can represent it through sound or sensation, there's no denying that being able to articulate something gives it added dimension and substance, and thus a sense of reality. Words are a basic tool for representing things to ourselves, and often if there's no word, there's no way to think about the experience."
