day 3 didn't practice last night because i felt lazy. anyway i went to bed early. i didn't use a blanket b/c the room was too hot. so i woke up at 5:00 n was alert enough to have stayed up (i woke up a little bit cold from no blanket) but fell asleep w/ blanket, woke up again at 7:00, n although i was more sleepy then i was when i woke up earlier at 5, I thought that my 10 min of alarm practicing drills that feels like waste of time really would have been waste of time if I don't wake up right now, n that if i don't wake up now i'll have to force myself to 'waste time' again by another set of practice drills. then slumbered for 10 min., then rose up to get my daily dose of jogging. Wanted to see the sunrise, but gloomy day today. Perhaps if i didn't have so much nuts last late afternoon, i would have had easier time waking up. Last edited by Lupe; 03-26-2009 at 12:49 PM. |

i could sleep a bit after 3:30am. woke at 8:00am w/o alarm. Doesn't feel sleepy. Not bad. But then didn't feel like practicing waking up to the alarm. can anybody share their experience with this practice? how long did it take you for the habit to develop? I practised for about an hour on the first day, then about 15 minutes a day for a few days. It works reliably if I got enough sleep. My biggest difficulty with it at the moment is going to bed early enough. I tend to stay up even after I'm really tired. I also still have a problem where I'll sometimes wake up before the alarm, and instead of getting up or going back to sleep, I lie there tormenting myself with thoughts of "oh no, I'll have to get up soon". I found that practising in the evening messed up my sleep. And I really didn't want to do it in the morning. Early afternoon seemed to work. I also found it was important not to make the routine too short. At least a minute in bed pretending to be asleep, then doing the next thing in the routine after getting up (so that I don't program myself to get out of bed and then get straight back in again). |
