Expert advice or opinions?
Elsewhere in the Health section Conan Stevens stated,
"I would suggest listening to experts and not just those that have an opinion" with regards to holding your breath or not when lifting weights (he is an expert.)
This is good advice for EVERYTHING though. If you have a specific goal, you should track down an expert for advice. Ongoing "expert" relationships can be called "mentors". The internet makes it possible to get expert advice on almost anything. You can probably find an expert in any area who is willing to give you advice if you try hard enough.
These kinds of discussion boards seem to be best for
#1 - motivation. This is indeed very important. If don't even start something, expert advice isn't worth much. Anyone is qualified to give you motivation.
#2 - links to expert advice elsewhere - but still check the info. There's far, far more fool's gold on the internet than gold.
#3 - expert advice from experts themselves but make sure to evaluate who's giving it.
