Hi, I would like ask you on your opinion about my plan. 1. I have school only hours per week. 2. It's technical school. 3. I don't want great marks I just want to pass exams. Plan 1. On lessons focus on learning basics. I should leave the class with understanding the most fundamental things about which was teacher speaking. I want to focus more on listening than on writting notes. I still could borrow notes from someone else and copy them that day. 2. I should review them next day and if after next 3 days? Not sure about this I read something about memory tricks. It was said you should review things you want to know after day and then 3 days after learning about them. Of course you should review it more times later but this would take me much time. I want to review them as I said next day, then once again and last one before exams. 3. I don't have short breaks compared to lessons so I don't have much time to get fresh again. I should find best food/drink to eat/drink during the school. I was thinking about green tea + muesli bars. Of course I don't forget about great breakfast and light lunch. I read many articles about these things but most of time it was for people who want to really remember these things or get straight A. In my case I just want to pass exams no more. For those who would like to give me opinion on this point, please don't. In my situation, on my school really studying and getting good marks is just waste of time. Maybe in your situtoation, on your school it does worth learnig more and have great marks, I believe that. This is just not my case(or better said case of my university). |

I'm more into getting better grades cause then I can get more scholarships/bursaries, etc so my education pays for itself. It's probably the most money I can make per hour right now, better than having a job. Penny saved is a penny earned. However, different people have differnet goals. In any case, sounds like you're interested in efficiency and effectiveness. Check out Study Hacks and get a copy of his book, How to Become a Straight-A student. I reckon if you apply like half the stuff you'll get easy Bs or Cs, if you apply all of it, you'll get As, probably in less time. It's got great methods on doing well in technical classes, too, as well as on his blog. There was one really good article there. He has a strong focus on effectiveness and efficiecny rather than just doing all the work. Hate the Grind. He even recommends you don't do all of your readings :-O One thing you've got right is to learn the material the first time it's presented. It'll be tough, but you would do well to find a way to integrate learning the material as it's coming in and writing it down. In non-technical courses, Cal's got a great method, and I'm sure there's one for technical courses, too. Check with Steve Pavlina, he did math and comp sci. Another question might be, why are you doing something that you don't feel is worth doing well? Last edited by RT Wolf; 02-15-2009 at 11:18 PM. |

| 88 Surefire Tips for Succeeding in College | OEDb That site is a good basis foundation for the things you'd wish to accomplish. SQR3: Method for Study The one above is a very nice site too. My tip for you is to utilize your computer when studying. It really helps a lot. P.s. just don't use the internet when you study. Outlining/Mind maps <- very good Understand each topic you wish to learn and see it as a visual theme (see it as a movie) Utilize rote and mnemonics for memorization (this is the only thing I know which guarantees high grades) Good luck. |
