| Out of all the blogs and sites you read, regardless of subject, who is the best writer? I am sick of reading all the web chatter blogs with unsubstantial posts and countless links. It's basically a huge gossip ring, no one is actually saying anything. I wish more people would take on important life topics like Steve. My favorites of the moment: 1. StevePavlina.com - No need for explanation 2. Violent Acres - This lady knows how to rip someone a new one, and when she does so she is usually right. 3. dooce - Very funny writing about daily life Of course, I fancy my own site, Pick the Brain - Self Improvement, Individuality, and the Pursuit of Happiness, as well. Also, The Show with Ze Frank, a video blog (ze's page :: zefrank.com) might be the smartest thing on the web. Period.

| Haha I hadn't seen that one. It's really true. I don't think I can take dooce seriously anymore. Now I sort of regret putting it down. She does take really good photos though. Did you watch any episodes of The Show with Ze Frank? It's ridiculously clever and he does a new one every weekday.

| Violent Acres is one of my guilty pleasures. I love V's brutual yet honest writing style. |

It kind of goes along with the orthorexia nervosa post in Health & Fitness. And with just about anything having to do with religion. (Sorry; recovering faithaholic speaking.) People will feed themselves so much BS that they completely lose track of what's really at hand. So anyway, thanks for the share. I feel brutally pushed a few levels up the consciousness scale after reading that!

| The Violent Acres web site is certainly a good one and I love her writing style. She's just the no-nonsense kind of presence we need in society. On the downside, she seems to have a very detached, uncaring side to her that could use some work. For example, some of the things she says about abortion really turn my stomach (but that's a debate for another thread). Taking that with a grain of salt, though, it's certainly good material.

| Read her latest entry (Violent Acres). Hmm, her way of writing is very black humour kind of style. Witty definitely, no wonder she's getting so much traffic ha. Thanks John for recommending. Her writing does carry some bits of "violence" haha..

| DirtSimple.org is a good site. Does anyone else think the guy looks a lot like Elvis?

| I'm pretty new to blogging to be honest, and I don't read hardly any (except this one) for the same reasons that have been mentioned: no real content, and a bunch of chatter. When I started my own publication I was concerned about proviiding good content and so I try to syndicate good articles from other people instead of trying to force myself to write more. I still do write a lot, but I don't consider myself a great writer, but I am honest. I definitely wish there were more places that talked about real issues, not necessarily the same as Steve Pavlina, but on all topics. Articles where you can tell that people actually care about what they're writing about (good or not), that's what I like. Well, just throwing in my two cents. Take care, D.A.N. | I should add to my previous post, that now that I do read a few more blogs and syndicate more content I feel is good, I've notices a lot more writers who are very passionate about their writing. I'm glad thats the case because I'd rather have the internet be a place for the exchange of ideas than a place for gossip and slander. Just wanted to make sure to clarify my post, sorry for the double post. Take care, D.A.N. | Umm, Seth Godin. Violent Acres is good, but I don't think there's really any contest. |

| I suggest Thinkarette : thinkarete - seize your potential - thinkarete by Brian Johnson. From his biography: "Brian Johnson is a philosopher. His mission in life is pretty simple: to inspire and empower people to "thinkarete" and live at their highest potential." Good writing, good thinking (or visa versa...) I appreciate all of your references to good writers. Best Wishes, Eric |
