Default OneNote as a Journal

I've used OneNote this way for a few years.
Dozens of Notebooks and Thousands of pages.
I've discovered a few things that make it much more valuable for my purposes.
1. Develop and index page or pages. I could never remember all of the topics etc. w/o it.
2. For topic words that may occur in common usage, change the spelling to: iindex for index; ppower for power etc. to be able to find it using OneNote search or MS Explorer search.
3. Make use of the "copy hyperlink to this paragraph" place index / iindex words in each paragraph.
4. The better the organization of index(es) the more value that is built into OneNote.
5. Use MS Word to alphabetize entries on index page. This requres having index terms individually on the left margin or put them into a table. Sort.
6. If searching by date is important, standardize date entry. I use 20090922Tu etc.
7. If key people are to be tracked but they also show up on lists etc. that may be in your notes: iindex that name. You can make John Thomas into JJThomas since John is a common name.

You'll find ways that work for you. Post them.

I've used onenote for journal for over a year now. I haven't got a complex system at all, like ernestdt1, I just start a new page for each entry and then archive them when I feel like there's too many. I think I'm going to look into indexing now...

Okay, I've had a look and I have no idea could you please explain how you indexed your pages?

I've used One Note as a journal and I like it. I can be looking at something on my computer such as a web page and if I want to save it to my journal I can just print it to one Note.
