Default Get motivated instantly by focusing on OUTCOMES

I've been trying to overcome my procrastination patterns for a long time. Recently I finally had a breakthrough. Let me share with you what helped me to become driven.

I was introduced to Anthony Robbin's OPA Life Planner - a way of managing your life. It's main idea is to be outcome oriented instead of action oriented. Sounds simple and well known, I know. It wasn't the first time I heard this idea. The trick is in the implementation.

The shift from "why do I always have to do this" into "in what incredible way my life is going to expand today?" happens when you actually start to think in terms of outcomes and results.

When I do my homework, in my mind I don't see myself "doing homework", like solving math equations etc. I see myself studying for final-year exam and getting into studies of my own choosing. This automatically creates a drive, willpower is only needed to implement the new way of thinking.

First of all, describe what your life is really about. What are the things that get you out of bed? How would your best possible life be? Just imagine you're a little kid on the lap of big, smiley Santa and create a life of your own choosing!

Then, once you know what you really want, just focus on it! Don't just mow your grass - create a beautiful front yard for your home! Action is the same, but the thinking process makes all the difference in motivation.

So basically, instead of thinking "what should I do?", ask yourself "what do I want?" and "why do I want it?".

I would label it a growth oriented mind-set. Everything we do, even seemingly menial tasks, offer some kind of growth. At least it gives us the opportunity to be more persistent. As for monotonous jobs, I have tried to look upon the meditative qualities of repetition.
