In the spirit of the thirty day trial and thirty day challenge, I thought it would be ideal to start the challenge ~30days prior to the new year to be the "new me" just in time for the new year. I am TIRED of my bad habits and self-sabotage and look forward to moving forward without anymore excuses and anymore delays. I'll keep this short and simple. I intend to install 30 "personal effectiveness" habits that will positively impact all aspects of my life... while removing 30 "self-sabotaging/bad" habits that hinder my potential. The areas of focus will be: 1. health/hygiene/lifestyle; 2. family/relationships; 3. self/learning/introspection; 4. wealth/business/finance; 5. spiritual/meaning in life; 6. community/contribution Install at least 5 fundamental habits for each category; remove up to 5 or more bad habits from each category. Being prepared and early for new year's resolutions will be a great way to get a "jump" on the new year. I hope to see others start "early" too! Last edited by selfmade2009; 12-02-2008 at 07:08 AM. |

| INTROSPECTION: I've been listening to Tony's "Get The Edge" program and I'm lovin' it compared to his original "Personal Power 2" program. I think what I enjoy the most is hearing him confirm his advice and perspective based on his MANY years of experience in helping people and his breadth of experience across the globe with all walks of life! For me, it helps really solidify that last excuse of uncertainty of his system. I've been dragging my feet for too long - delaying the life I deserve because I'm so comfortable with the stories I tell myself to excuse myself from performing. I'm truly grateful for finding this site filled with a lot of positive and energetic/passionate people who are in the same journey of self-improvement/mastery! QUICK REVIEW OF DAY: * I really need to get into a more early schedule. I started the day late because of my late sleep schedule (went to bed ~2a & got up around 8a)... habit 1 to change! * I had a nice run today.. ran for about 45mins while listening to GTE... (Personal Power Day 4) I'm reminded of of how to create lasting change: 1. Get Leverage on Myself; 2. Interrupt the Pattern; 3. Create a New Association. (Personal Power Day 5 - goal setting) I'm also reminded that the WHY's for our goals/change is CRITICAL to keeping us motivated and helping us to succeed. * I was able to get SOME work done, but I'm still scattered and need a schedule. I will need to spend some time planning my day/week for perspective and more efficiency/personal effectiveness NEW HABITS TO INSTALL: 1. BECOME AN EARLY RISER - go to bed by 11p, wake up by 6a, go for a run by 8:30a; 2. PLAN AHEAD / BE ON TIME - plan my day the nite before, plan my week on sunday evening, and plan to be 15mins early to all appts; 3. GO MORE ALKALINE, LESS ACIDIC - plan my meals, establish foods to eat/avoid. ********** TO DO (brain dump list): ********* Establish my goals - (PP2: Day 5 - Goal Setting); Invoice Clients; PAY MY BILLS!! Start my new diet Organize my office!! Get a handle on my finances; Prepare for catering event on Saturday; Finish up tech work for client; Determine site flow and page details for web app; Pay Life Insurance!! Schedule conference call; Catering site visit; Set dinner with Pete |

| INTROSPECTION: well, well... it's 12:20a... I should be in bed now. So i'll keep this short. Had a decent run today listening to the 6 Human Needs (PP2 - Day6). Great info that I look forward to listening to again in the near future. Really explains why people do what they do... will let that sink in some more and turn that around in my mind as I progress and listen to it again later! So i was thinking... it'd be good to have a snapshot of a "before" and "after" of me. So in a snapshot before... here we go: >>BEFORE SNAPSHOT<< HEALTH / HYGIENE: from my last doctor visit: 11/10/2008 194lbs [12/3] Resting Heart Rate: 69bpm Triglycerides: 223 [Good Range: <150mg/dL] Total cholesterol: 243 [125-200 mg/dL] HDL: 49 [>/= 40mg/dL] LDL: 149 [<130 mg/dL] CHOL/HDLC Ratio: 5.0 [</= 5.0] Glucose: 95 [66-99 mg/dL] Hemoglobin Alc: 5.8 [<6.0] haircut monthly and not every 6wks (tooooo long should be daily: inconsistent shaving (only 2-3x's a week) inconsistent use of moisturizer/lotion (only 2x's a week); need to drink at least 100oz of water a day (maybe only 60oz?) WEALTH: over 200k in debt (this doesn't include house mortgage!!) BUSINESS/CAREER: starting up: 1. catering business (started: Sep; averaging $250/mo); 2. web service (started: Sep; building); existing: 1. technology consulting COMMUNITY: I only contribute on the web by moderating a few forums; Would like to contribute some skills or donation to brick & mortar organizations (and not just strictly on the web at random); Would like to join a group and participate regularly - tbd FRIENDS/FAMILY: would like to spend some time once a month w/circle of friends (one or multiple at a time); would like to establish some family traditions Bad Habits to Remove: 1. late sleep schedule; 2. late to appts; 3. inconsistent exercise schedule; 4. inconsistent diet; 5. no personal financial system in place (Quicken); 6. inconsistent schedule with friends; 7. no social networking (clubs, associations, etc.); 8. no personal growth (public speaking, learning new things, etc.); 9. not focused; 10. not organized; 11. chaotic office not being used; 12. not keeping up with mail; 13. need to establish a framework/schedule looks like the above is groundwork for some goals. will do that tomorrow! QUICK REVIEW OF DAY: * Got up late...but then again, went to sleep at 430a. * Had a good run, but forgot to measure my distance. I'm doing about 45min for a run. My legs aren't sore, so it's time to push it up a notch. * I spent the rest of the day taking care of the tech work I had to complete. FINALLY DONE and looking forward to billing clients. * Housecleaner came, but she's starting to slack... will have to have a list of things for her to do and then review that list when she's done... if she continues to miss things, I'll have to find someone else. * Didn't get ANYTHING done for development of webservice or taking care of bills... will do so tomorrow! NEW HABITS: [12/2] 1. BECOME AN EARLY RISER - go to bed by 11p, wake up by 6a, go for a run by 8:30a; --> ok, so it's 130a right now... I will have to break this cycle by getting up at 6a! yikes! [12/2] 2. PLAN AHEAD / BE ON TIME - plan my day the nite before, plan my week on sunday evening, and plan to be 15mins early to all appts; [12/2] 3. GO MORE ALKALINE, LESS ACIDIC - plan my meals, establish foods to eat/avoid. --> i need to research this a bit before i could really implement this. right now, it's just guessing what's good to eat and what's not! | INTROSPECTION: I was on AR's website looking for the seminar "Time of Your Life" but could not find it. I went a hunting for it after hearing the last cd from the PP2 (7days) that was included in the GTE package. It makes a LOT of sense to me that to be effective, not only do we need an extraordinary psychology, but we also need an effective time management system. I look forward to going to a big seminar of his one day soon. perhaps i'll make it a goal of mine.. so this is what really sank in with me today - i've already begun to repeat the GTE audio on my runs - GOOD STUFF! paraphrased - as i recall it: "Our musts affect the quality of our lives" "The quality of our questions determine the quality of our life" GREAT STUFF - I can't say it enough! can you tell?? So i've been thinking of a game plan... how can i maximize my effectiveness and improvements during this 30day effort of CANI (Constant and Never-ending Improvement)? 1. Health and Vitality - without the good health and abundant energy, I will be handicapped in effectively and energetically implementing my life improvements. life tastes better when you are at peak condition! 2. Time Management and Organization - if i'm always in disarray or late to events, I'll never be prepared for opportunity and i will live life haphazardly. I'd rather be at my best so that i can seize opportunity! 3. Goal Setting and Achievement - without goals/purpose, life would be dull and pointless. I look forward to setting my goals up soon! 4. Simple and Concise - when things get too complicated, things become harder to maintain... life has enough variety without needing my special addition to complexity. being concise (which i will do here on out in my posts, for example) keeps things simple, direct, and memorable. QUICK REVIEW OF DAY: * I finished up loose ends on my consulting work. I thot i was done yesterday... WRONG... i got 80% of it done, and finished the last 20% today... so now it's time to INVOICE!! * so far behind in what i really want to (and need to) do this week! * we had a conference call today and happy to know that we will spending this weekend reassessing our targets and goals for our new webservices. a different opportunity that can get us to critical mass sooner and into cash sooner as well!! * my run is getting better and better each day! i found out my run has only been 1.5mi in a 45min session. ok, so i'm still wayyyyyy out of shape... but each day gets me closer to marathon condition! hmmmm... maybe another goal to add to my list. * lastly, i plan to get my goals started this weekend and finish up my task list this wkd! NEW HABITS 1. BECOME AN EARLY RISER - ok, so right now it's 230a... at least it's not 4a! 2. PLAN AHEAD / BE ON TIME - i have a 7a breakfast tomorrow w/a friend (his bday!) i'm cheating this once by taking coffee before bed so i can get up easily in a few hours! 3. MORE ALKALINE, LESS ACIDITY - i have to do my basic research on my list of foods to increase and avoid/minimize. for now i'm doing an OK job staying away from sweets and high junk carbs and increasing my greens. i'm taking: macro greens drink (http://************/5mn3yh and http://************/69hplp). *** 4. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH FRIENDS ONCE A WEEK - once a week (not more than once a week and not more than 1hr), I will email and/or call friends that I want to keep in touch with - my close friends 5. BE EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT, AND CONCISE - keep things simple and be effective - there are MANY benefits to this habit... one being that people i communicate with can follow me/understand me... this blog entry is a POOOOR EXAMPLE GOOD NITE! P.S. HERE'S A GREAT VID FROM TR: Tiny Changes Mean Huge Results |
