I have occasional stretches of insomnia - in fact I'm going through one right now. It happens a couple of times a year for a week or so. I've found over the years that lying in bed, tossing and turning is the WORST way to deal with it, so I've created a short list of things I can do to keep myself occupied and hopefully relax a bit.
For those of you who deal with insomnia, what do you do to make good use of the time? Or do you just take some medicine and go to sleep? Last edited by MariaG; 10-22-2008 at 08:16 PM. Reason: can't spell |

I've actually started using music from Brain Sync, they have music that is designed to take you through the alpha-theta-delta stages... it's pleasant to listen to, and it works well for me. I put on the track with headphones, and after 15 minutes, I really start to wind down mentally(which is the cause of my insomnia)... If not, then I play stupid flash games at kongregate :P -Zachary |

If I can't sleep I would either read a book or surf the net for new information. But I find that reading a book would be better as it tends to bring me to a level where I am tired and hence I can go to sleep. Cheers Vincent Personal Development Blogger |

@fainaent - Great idea on the Brain Sync music. Ambient music works well, but I'm sure Brain Sync or Quantum Mind Power would be even better. @bbdream8 - I've read that looking at electronic screens like computer monitors or televisions actually keeps you from getting good sleep. Of course, I can't find that reference now! But I've found the same thing as you - reading a book is more relaxing than looking at a computer. |
