I don't know what's happening lately, but I've noticed I seem to have holes in my memory. They almost seem like errors in my reality. For example, yesterday I didn't leave the house. My mother called me and I spoke with her with my mobile phone. After that I can't remember what I did with the phone. You see, I can't find the phone, anywhere. I've searched everyhere inside the house and I just can't find it. So I decided to call myself using the landline telephone. But the telephone doesn't ring. Perhaps the battery's out? All of the sudden? In fact, I get this voice mail machine talking to me, which is kind of weird because I'm sure I have set up a personal message for my voicemail! It's kinda freaky. It's like my telephone completely disappeared from existance. The same with the gel I bought yesterday. I put it on my desk next to my bed. Today I wanted to go style my hair, my hand went to the desk and... It wasn't there. It wasn't there, nor was it anywhere in my room. This really frustrates me. I just can't remember where I put it. I mean... I'm sure I put it there on the desk... ... And I'm pretty sure I DID buy it... *reality tests himself* No. I'm not dreaming. Don't you hate it when you catch yourself on not being aware like that? It's like little holes in my memory. Or perhaps errors in my memory. So frustrating... Has any of you ever had that? What do you do about this? Last edited by JMononoetoe; 10-21-2008 at 10:09 AM. |

I've had moments where I suddenly realise I'm somewhere and it's like I just "woke up" there, but that's due to something that I know about. It doesn't frighten me, however, I just sort of go "Awesome!" and move on.

I'm quite absentminded myself and often misplace things...I have two watches but they've both been missing for over six months. One of my television remotes has been missing for weeks...I bought a calendar back in January, but I lost it before I ever put it up! When I finally find it, the year may be over... This sort of thing tends to happen to me when I am deep in thought about something, while going about my daily business. My hands will be doing something while my mind is somewhere else completely. Plus I'm a huge packrat/slob, which makes it much harder to find something than if my place were organized and tidy. (I dream of a time when I'll be able to get my place straightened up, and find a bunch of missing stuff!) Good luck finding your misplaced items. |

You can solve this problem by doing being more aware of situation around you. Example: When you close the door, don't close it subconsciously. Close it and make a mental note ( picture yourself closing the door and do it physically). Keep doing this and you will find that you will become more aware of what is happening and a more powerful memory too. Cheers Vincent Personal Development Blogger

I found my stuff, by the way. I first found my gel. I decided to look under my bed for the fifth time, this time with a flashlight. Then I moved one of my slippers.. Again.. And there it was! It was perfectly parked between two slippers, with the right side up. It was perfectly hidden from plain sight because of the slippers. I found my mobile phone as well. I looked around in the study lots of times, and last night I even took the flashlight with me and I crawled over the ground to look everywhere on the ground. Lastly I looked under the computer table. I crouched under the chair and looked under the table, but there was nothing. So I walked back downstairs, perhaps I had dropped it somewhere there. And that's when I heard my mom call: "Joshua, I found it, come and look!" I ran upstairs and she said it was at the computer table. I looked around, and I didn't see it at all. I walked closer and then I noticed I stepped on something. I didn't even look. "I'm standing on my mobile phone now, right?" The battery wasn't even out. It was just turned off, somehow. But the thing that confused me most is that when I was looking under the computer table the phone was right under me. And I didn't see it. I'm blind!!! Oh well. I'll work on my awareness ^^;;;
