Default Aimless in many ways

I come and go in clarity, but I wanted to attempt to articulate an issue that I have at the moment and see if I could get some advice.

At the moment, my life is pretty skewed and empty. I have trouble generating my own larger focus and rely on friends or others to gain a sense of daily purpose. So, for example, while I do have lifestyle interests, I often find myself pretty bored. I also have trouble sticking to long term interests, such as my career. Likewise, I have trouble recognizing and establishing relationship patterns and am stuck interacting moment by moment.

My thought was to find a book that had exercises to help me set clearer goals of these sorts. Does anyone have suggestions for some book that helps clarify goals in these various areas?

I hope it will help

Thanks for the book recommendation.

I guess the frustration shifts and changes. A large part of the frustration is my unsatisfactory social interactions. I simply fall into silence when I'm with people. I guess because it's hard to propel myself into something other than boredom.

At the other extreme, I force myself to prepare for conversations that would be interesting.

I'm frustrated with my lifestyle and habits and capabilities. I'm not sure what would be better. I know being able to talk about things other than the weather and to be in touch more with people's emotions would be great.

Any suggestions? I'm at a rather miserable spot in my life right now .

Default I understand you

Hi onomotopeia,

You welcome!

I understand you so well. I have the same problems. The social life is important and we must have one. A good one.

If you want, you can change your mind set. You just need a desire to change it. Maybe, it's mental lazyness.

If you can talk not only about the weather, why not use it. You have to force yourself to use it.

You have the capabilities to reinvent yourself.

I hope it help

Hugo

Hi onomotopeia,

One excellent book I'd recommend is, What color is your parachute? ~ Richard Nelson Bolles

...and another would be my recently released ebook because it's free!

The Genius Within YOU - How to Unlock Your Inner Genius, Natural Ability and Life Purpose

Hi there

When I was in my early twenties I had a similar problem socially - I would be silent within a group of people.

Sometimes, it is a good idea to try and get outside of your own thoughts by becoming interested in other people - ask them questions about their life and work.

I also wonder whether you've got some psychological blocks that need clearing. I found that going to a counsellor for a few months was a tremendous help and really brought me out of myself. Just talking things over with a professional can be extremely powerful, and help you to find that spark of joy that you are looking for.

Ros
