I read this quote on the Abraham-Hicks homepage this morning; it was powerful for me to read!

Child of mine, I will never do for you that which I know you can do for yourself. I will never rob you of an opportunity to show yourself your ability and talent. I will see you at all times as the capable, effective, powerful creator that you've come forth to be. And I will stand back as your most avid cheerleading section. But I will not do for you that which you have intended to do for yourself. Anything you need from me, ask. I'm always here to compliment or assist. I am here to encourage your growth, not to justify my experience through you.

It's important to understand that when raising a child. I often catch myself trying to stop my boy from making a mistake and realize, he needs to make these little mistakes to grow. I just need to be there when he's ready to ask for help.

And as I read that quote I was thinking it wasn't related to children, but we as adults and the relationship between us and our guides. Our guides are the same way. they will not remove our karmic lessons or the lessons we intended for us to have. This is why sometimes when someone says, "I'm desperate, please tell me what career I'm supposed to have" the guides respond with, "have the faith, trust, and courage to find the answer on your own." At first I was frustrated for people who got this answer and then finally understood that for many people, courage is the lesson, and the journey is the destination.

having someone tie your shoes and chew your gum for you doesn't help you grow.

I don't think most people understand karma. Must write a blog post about it.

Karma doesn't exist more than we imagine it to exist ourselves, according to Abe, in the same way that everything in our life has been created by our thoughts. So they weren't talking about karma. I think it was more aimed at overprotective parents.

That's a beautiful quote! Much better than the way I frequently put it to my young nephew: "if you can do something yourself, don't ask others to do it for you."

As for karma, I agree that most people misunderstand it as something akin to Newton's third law - that we get an immediate and opposite reaction to what we do. Elrond's definition is much better, that everything we think somehow comes back to us as our reality, but there is a time lag so we sometimes don't see the causative link as clearly as we should.

The Law of Attraction. Or maybe LoA and karma are one and the same?
