Default I have this weird fear of talking to people...

I like talking to people. I am not shy. But sometimes if I am talking to someone, I suddenly feel all panicky and I can feel my face heating up and probably turning beet red. And then I totally lose track of what I am saying and start trying to think of a way to escape the conversation. It doesn't matter if I am talking to a stranger or someone I have known forever. The topic of conversation doesn't seem to affect it. It IS more COMMON with strangers and groups. I do have a severe fear of public speaking... does this happen to anyone else? its so embarrassing. I wonder how many people have talked to me and thought, why is she getting all flushed?

Maybe that's your intuition talking, I still feel like that around certain people, I think its to help with awareness or as a warning.

Default that strange

Hi,

I understand you. It happend to me sometime. Sometime, I'm to scare to think what people will think of me, so I just don't talk. I'm wondering how to get rid of that fear.

Fear of public speaking is not easy. Maybe, toastmaster is a good associate who can help with this fear.

good bye

Hugo

Yeah, I'm the same way. But I think it's more an ADHD thing. I tend to be really uptight and I don't like being in situations where I feel like I'm losing control, so I tend to be really tense when I first start talking to someone. After a while, though, I loosen up and feel more comfortable letting go of things.

so, you are saying I should just accept this as normal and not do anything about it?

............

Anyway, since I have posted this, I actually heard more about Toastmasters and decided to go on Thursday. So hopefully that goes well.

It sounds like just a case of anxiety. This happens to A LOT of people when speaking. Just practice talking to different people and it will go away. Also, spend some time visualizing and seeing yourself having good conversations with people. It will really help you get used to interacting successfully with people.

Good call on Toastmasters! You will be a great speaker in no time and I must congratulate your courage in willing to face your problem and solve it.

I have the same especially when I'm talking to groups or unknown people. I find that when my self confidence is up I don't have it. I also noticed that whenever I just don't feel good it happens more often (like unshowered, with worries, negative thoughts..) . It's also happening when I'm in an introverted state of mind. When my attention is inside my head, and I loose my connection with the outside world.

What helps is to find out when, why and how often it happens. I have overcome a great deal of these situations just by knowing why, how and when these situations happen. I work on my self image, self confidence and I try to be really connected with the outside world when walking the street or attending class.

It is all in your mind. Try a conversation about a topic you are comfortable with. For example you can ask him or her about a hobby and you start telling about your own. Conversation is easy for me because i look at them as anothe homo sapien breathing oxygen like me . Be confident with the topic you want to talk about. You will be confident after that. No more blush

Hi, I have read all posts here and found its useful.
Im, myself good looking and open and friendly person, but sometimes a bit shy.I lways used to smile and shine!
And suddenly i started fearing of talking to people...I started avoiding public places in order not to see anobody. But it wasnt possible, still people whom i know tried to talk to me...but after seeing that im nervous and shaking also started avoiding me After some time i started contolling myself trying to be relaxed and try not to think ab my problem. And attacks of fear started happening more realy, only sometimes.
But still sometimes when it happens i have stressful days and insomnia at nights because of worries.
I understand the reasons and solutions of my problems all are in my head. That i have anything to fear about, nobody whom im talking is going to kill me. But still sometimes i cannot control my fear, , because of this my self confidence decreased..

does anyone have the same problem as me,
please, advice me what to do?

Lots of Thanks beforehand
