Question Ups and Downs in personal development?

I've been trying personal development for about a year, and I have noticed an annoying pattern in my life. That is at sometimes i tend to do great (rise up early, doesn't procrastinate, happy and etc.....) but all of a sudden i go back to the same old "me". I don't know why this is happening someone please suggest a solution for this.
Thanks.

It takes about 30 days to develop a new habit. If you manage to do something you want to incorporate into your life for 30 days straight, without exceptions, you are supposed to be easily able to do it for the rest of your life. Read Steve Pavlina's 30 days to success. Then pick up Million Dollar Habits by Brian Tracy and read the first few chapters where he explains how to make a new habit. It's all about habits. Just to be on the safe side though, I would not do 30 days but 60 days.

Default Persistence, patience, and acceptance

I've had the same experience. I think it comes down to persistence, patience, and acceptance. We aren't machines so we don't always perform the way we want. I’ve come to accept that some days I won’t perform the way I want and sometimes I will fall out of practice of habits that I’ve adopted. I think the important thing is to just keep trying and accept you limitations and don’t beat yourself up about them.

Are you just trying to change the external things you do or who you actually are inside?

Where do you feel your difficulties are coming from? Do you get burned out from trying to change too many things at a time? Maybe you success stems from how you wake up(snooze button vs. getting out of bed immediately and getting going)? You need to find the things that are holding you back, and work on them one at a time

Brian........You are where you are and what you are because of yourself.
Everything you are today, or ever will be in the future, is up to you. Your life today is the sum total result of your choices, decisions and actions up to this point. You can create your own future by changing your behaviours. You can make new choices and decisions that are more consistent with the person you want to be and the things you want to accomplish with your life.”
