Default how do i get things done - simple things seem tough I get nowhere

Even things like tidying my room - I get stuck - I cant do it - not sure what to do with everything

why am I like this - i want to change badly and just get everything completed

Default Change your mindset and do 30day trial

What you have to do is change your mindset so the benefits of cleaning your room outweigh the negatives. Right now you won't clean your room because your mind can't see what you will get out of it. It's just seen as a chore, and you kind of wish you could have it clean. Anthony Robbins talks about how you need to make the positives of any one thing outweigh the negatives.

Now for a simple thing as tidying your room, I think the best thing to do would be set a 30 day plan. So commit to tidying your room to spotless every day for 30 days and this will build a habit. Also write out how a tidy room is so beneficial. I know that research shows that having a tidy room can make you feel more organised and subtly makes you more organised elsewhere in your life as a follow on effect. Also if you complete the 30 day challenge this will give you the confidence to do the 30 day challenge in other areas, giving more confidence in yourself and improving self discipline.

Focus on one thing at a time.

It's very challenging for me to focus also - I have a million projects going on at once. Therefore, it seems so overwhelming that it can be tough getting even started.

Why not write down ONE thing you want to accomplish each day? Let's start with your room.

For the next week, don't push yourself to accomplish anything else. Instead, everyday, do one thing to clean your room. Example:

Day 1 - Separate items in room to 3 categories: Keep, donate, sell, trash.
Day 2 - same as day 1
Day 3 - throw away trash items.
Day 4 - donate the donate items
Day 5 - mark up inventory of stuff to sell
Day 6 - put up ebay/craiglist listings for every item to sell
Day 7 - vacuum/dust room.

You get the point.

chances are you are a perfectionist. Perfectionists never start until they figured out the best ultimative system.

Here is what I do - I use joesgoals.com (it's free and I am not affiliated with this site). Define one or two quantifiable goals. Like keep floor clean from stuff.

Just one or two.

Try to do it every day. Feel the satisfaction you get from marking the task as completed.

Add further tasks or expand existing ones. Like "put dirty laundry in basket".

Try to beat yesterday's score.

2. Don't try to be perfect. You don't have to have EVERYTHING completed now - especially if procrastination is your habit which you've trained for a long time. You need a little patience to learn something new (i.e. - how to be productive). So allow yourself to make small changes. Do one thing at a time and notice your little successes when they'll come.

I know from times in the past where I've had problems getting things done is that there is some important issue that I'm not dealing with. It can be hard to complete small tasks like cleaning my room when there is a much large task that needs my attention. This can be caused by not knowing how to approach the larger issue or even being afraid to acknowledge it.

There has already been a lot of good advice in this thread but I'll add my thoughts as well. If there happens to be an issue that is overwhelming start by writing it down on a piece of paper and breaking it in to smaller pieces. Be aware of which pieces make you feel anxious and try and understand why and find a strategy to help deal with it. Thinking things through and writing them on paper does not mean you have to commit to anything but it definitely helps bring more awareness to the problem and hopefully give you more options.
