Lightbulb Einstein Intelligence Quiz

I just learned about this. Albert Einstein created an intelligence quiz or riddle. He said that only 2% of the people can solve it. The top 2% of people have an IQ of over 132. This forum is for smart people, so you can see how smart you are. I solved it. Einstein Intelligence Quiz

If you define intelligence as IQ number, then sure. There are also many forms of intelligence. I remember I solved this once also, but I don't take that too seriously.

Same here. I solved it too some time ago, and then I wrote a computer program to solve it. Writing the program took me much longer than solving it myself

But I don't take this seriously. IQ is only a very small part of what intelligence is.

I'm fairly certain, but how do we know when they didn't give an answer? I guess if all the info fits, right?

Yes you will know when you solved it if you did not just take a guess. Everything else will fit in before you find where the fish goes. Doing it made a difference in my brain. They say that the brain is a muscle that you can exercise and that will make it stronger and also that it will help prevent dementia / Alzheimer's disease. Although it could cause wisenheimers disease. Please note that I changed the order of the clues.

Originally you had to hunt and pick those clues that you could use at the beginning. I changed the order and put them in the beginning so people could get off to a flying start. I play Sudoku which exercises my brain. Do you think that people have gotten smarter since Einstein's time? Or do you think that you are in the top 2%? I think that both are correct.

So is there an answer to it? I found one on the web, but if that's the real one, then I personally disagree.

hey this is cool. I did it and it was a nice challenge~! Thanks for the post!

I checked my answer on the net and it worked out correct. I'm sure that there is a greater percentage of people that can solve it than you mentioned surely?!

Took me some time, but got it. You have to bias your answer on the assumption that everyone owns a pet; however. I.E. the question is based on a relative assumption that there are five pets to begin with. Otherwise there is no fish.

Let us all think for just an moment. How many different answers are there to this question? (right or wrong) Most people assume that the correct answer is the German. Not by any means is that correct. You are only assuming that the German is who owns the fish. While in fact there is absolutely know mention of the fish in any of the 15 clues, only in the question itself. So ask your self with the provided clues who owns the fish? Dose the question force the legitimacy of the fish as part of the five animals? or not?

With real thought, questions only lead to more questions. So..... Am I right?

The Einstein part of this Puzzle is BS. it's just there to draw attention to the puzzle.

These are common puzzles. They are simply logic puzzles. They are easy to some, hard for others.

You learn this stuff in logic 101. Our final test was almost identical to this.

If you want some brain exercise try this:
脳年齢テスト01 脳トレ瞬間記憶
No instructions (well actually there are but they're in japanese and I only found them today for the first time viewing the site on my big portrait-orientated monitor)
(1) figure out what you're supposed to do
(2) do it and the number at the end is supposed to be your mental age.
(3) I'm 20 most days and 23 if I'm tired.

PS just looked at the EIQ one - not tried it yet as am on my way out - but 180 is right, we have books and books full of these types of puzzles in the UK - logic puzzles - with the grids all drawn out for you.

PPS IMHO IQ = learning how to do IQ tests. Eg the ones where the price of something depends on maybe the number of letters or the number of vowels or whatever in the word. You might not get it the first time you do a test, but after you have been shown how to do it, its just another tool to try in another test when you get faced with a similar question. Also, IQ tests require you to have a WASP mind where you try one and if you can't do it straightaway you move on to the next question quickly, then come back and fill in the others later if you have time. In many cultures, persisting until you do solve is the culture and so they won't move on quickly.

PPS HEALTH WARNING - do not start playing this game when you have an essay to write or a major work project to complete ....

My first thought was it was a trick question because you can't OWN a fish, you might have caught it or bought it but it's not YOUR'S ... but then I did the the problem solving anyway and came up with the 'right' answer.
I doubt only 2% of the population could solve it, though, but I guess that's just a statistic to make the people who solve it feel clever

Thanks for the little mental workout, gingko!

With the assumptions the webpage uses, and assuming there's actually a fish, it took me just 3-4 minutes to solve it... surprisingly easy puzzle.

You just have to make to make a table and fill it. It should just a matter of time for anyone to solve it.

And I think you can't assume there is no fish. In that case one of the owners have some mysterious pet which is not a cat, dog, horse or bird and the whole test end up being just a cheat itself by leaving one of the squares empty.

Well, in legal terms and common talk, if you have a fish in your house you actually own a fish. The same for every kind of pet.

Looks like a "short term memory" test. Something in which I've always been awful.

It says I'm 34, just misses by 10 LoL

Well, to solve the test, you haven't to be a genius or quite intelligent. With some time (1-3 hours) most people are able to solve it. Even I solved it at the age of 15.

I thought it would be easy, but I spent an hour an a half at it only to finish with an ambiguous answer, because I read "The man living in the house right in the middle drinks milk" as "The man living in the house on the right drinks milk."

AAAHHH!

I just went through solving it the correct way, and wow it's easy-peasy compared to what I did! If someone here wants a REAL challenge, try this:

Change
"The man living in the house right in the middle drinks milk"
to
"The man living in the house on the right (house #5) drinks milk"

And change
"Who owns the fish?"
to
"Who are the two possible owners of the fish?"

I think I got the right answer for that but it's always possible that I'm wrong.
