I've recently got my hands on a biography and analysis of Genghis Khan's life by Steve Mann and found the book very interesting and inspirational. (It's a very hard read though, so I'm not even halfway done with it yet). Seeing the effect it had on me, I was wondering if there are any other people whose lives I could draw inspiration from? What kind of historical people would you recomend that I look at if my main career interest is politics and economics, and my hobbies are reading about science and warfare (both conventional and unconventional). |

Personally, I am a huge fan of: Teddy Roosevelt Benjamin Franklin In terms of warfare, you may want to read more recent books. "Generation Kill" is now required reading for enlisted recon Marines. Iceman, one of the Marines in the book, is considered a great example of competence, professionalism, character, and charismatic leadership. |

My common hero's are Ghandi, Jimmy Hoffa and Arnold Schwarzeneger but as far as studying historical figures I'm cuurently reading a bit about Hanniball the Carthaginian general and have looked a bit into the work of Sun Tzu - art of war and Niccolò Machiavelli - the prince.
