Hi Guys, I found it to be one of the most effective things I've ever done. It's really effective for work/business related activities but I also think it can be used for great effect with other areas of life too. In the past 6 months I looked carefully at the 20% of things that made me most unhappy and then eliminated as many of them as I could and things are now considerably better. I think it's an important thing to regularly implement, in all areas of life, in order to monitor where you spend your time and how those activities contribute to your life. How about you? Do you use the 80/20 Rule regularly and do you find it makes a positive contribution to your life? Best Wishes, Kenny |

First post. So the 80/20 rule is something that I've been naturally guiding myself towards these past couple years without even knowing it. I'm only 17, but I've spent the last couple years gaining as much information as I can about achievement, accomplishment, and success. There seems to be one recurring, underlying theme about those who are successful and it is: they only focus on what is most important to them. I realize that whenever I feel like I can "do it all" and do every task on the list, I might get all of them done, however, if I leave out anything is in the 20%, I feel like I've achieved less. However, for my life, I have 10 major goals. These are the goals that I've really set for myself to achieve more than anything. They are well balanced concerning life, relationships, love, physical fitness, finances, and broadening my knowledge. While I have these ten goals that are in my 20% of total goals that I have, there are two specific ones, 1) Start up my own business and 2) Acquire the total net worth of 1 Million, that will be the most rewarding to me and boost my total lifestyle more than the others. However, if I just accomplished my first goal, start up my own business, then I would feel more successful than if I accomplished all other 9 goals and failed to get this one. To me, this is the 80/20 rule - focusing on the very one thing that you want in life and broadening out. |
