Hi everyone. I'm kinda keen on doing photoreading, but it seriously sounds too good to be true. Anyway, I've been trying to find success stories by individuals on photoreading, but there seems to be a dearth of them. So which leads me to conclude that either:
I would appreciate it if any more experienced photoreadings(say, have been consistently photoreading for at least 1 year) could just pop by and describe how their lives have been transformed by photoreading(well, at least from the marketing claims of photoreading, I'm thinking that acquiring photoreading would be a mind-expanding, life altering experience |

4. The effects of Photoreading are not really measurable - some people believe/swear it works, some say it doesn't. That's my answer. To their credit: I haven't read of anyone who demanded a refund and didn't get it. By the way there is a NASA study out there that is somewhat disputed on here, otherwise I am not aware of any (scientific) test of the effectiveness of Photoreading. |

With scientific I mean a group of people that gets analyzed before the Photoreading training and afterwards. Measurable results of text understanding and other learning capabilities. Maybe a control group that gets training in "general" reading techniques and speed reading but without the photoreading part. I am only interested in proven results. |

| A person who may or may not have a personal agenda behind promoting it. I'm not cynical when it comes to Steve Pavlina, because his credibility doesn't matter to me as long as I can benefit from his ideas. However, I can understand people's skepticism and it would be nice to have some lay people give testimonials. Also, the PhotoReading course puts a lot of emphasis on scanning and sort of ignoring the bulk of the book, so it may not be any better than speed reading. And Paul R. Scheele makes some audacious claims and just generally seems like a stereotypical salesman. I have the course. I have anxiety and attention problems, but when I finally finish learning it I will come back here and give an honest account, before making a blog and offering a 59% discount. |

Well, there are a lot of people out there who tells that photoreading doesn't work and blah.. blah.. But it will only work if you believe in it and completely practicing it with full belief. I am using photoreading for 4 months now and I can say with confidence that it works.NASA study tells that there is no real mprovement in reading speed but I could say that photoreading does shorten my time in studying the books with right amount of comprehension. You need to have open mind and use the techniques. It WILL make changes in the way you approach texts.

I think that I have finally found what has been nagging me about their multi-pass approach. I remember being told about that method by my grandparents. I finally took the time today to try to figure out if there was a name for it. This is simply a re-baggaged method for reading that has been around for 50 plus years. I have not actually done the system, so I can't tell if it is closer to Mortimer Adler's method: How to Read a Book - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or the SQ3R method: SQ3R - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Alas, the maxim: Everything old is new again. |

So has photoreading got something to do with "the secret"? What happens when you are a natural skeptic like me? | ||

Varpath,to your first question, I have both the personal learning course and the book .And to the second, the real answer is, as I told already in my post, you must really have an open minded attitude to practice all the techniques no matter how skeptic you are. You can buy any used book of photoreading and see it for yourself. And photoreading is not any 'secret'. It offers you a different perspective in the way you view information. I learnt a lot of thing from this photoreading course. First,it told me to state the purpose before reading anything. I was just reading everything desperately to learn from books. Only after reading part one of the photoreading book, I really understood that one must have purpose before reading. Such an important word! Second, it offers a number of study techniques and teached me how to study texts. So as a result, I seem to study the books with speed and comprehension I desire.
