Default Personal development amnesia

I sometimes go through periods in life - if only for a few days - where I forget everything about personal development. I get so immersed in something that I forget I'm supposed to be challenging myself and enjoying life. I enter that fuzzy land of unconsious living without really meaning to do so.

Does anyone else have these momentary slips?

And if so, what are your favorite ways of getting back on track?

I get this too! I really do! But to be honest I don't worry about it.

I might have forgotten to say my personal affirmations, or do any of the personal development activities I've chosen to work on, but I know my subconscious is integrating the changes into my personality.

I don't need to practice constantly to know my head is working on stuff.

Does your forgetfulness actually have a negative effect? Maybe if it bothers you, you could try having a daily schedule of stuff to do that you keep written down and in your wallet? Or maybe you're trying to do too many things - perhaps do less things more often.

There is probably a really simple solution to this!

Life (lets the say the 'common' life) has the tendency to be repetitive and lull us into a comfortable position without us noticing.

Something that can help is to have a schedule(or to-do list) planned the night before. You have to schedule in activities that focus on personal development. Then meet them.

The key is always effort, even when you don't feel like it.

Yes, I agree a daily schedule and self discipline are vital tools in the PD toolkit. And also, I think it's true I try doing too many things at once. Like Steve once said, I go out with a bang, and land with a thud. I suppose there are so many things I want to improve in my life, I don't really have the patience to do one thing at a time.

So I do lots of things simultaneously until my brain says ENOUGH! And that's when I start lowering my consciousness towards hedonism. I'll do anything which gives immediate satisfaction... slacking off in front of my computer for 6 hrs with a bowl of snacks, not leaving the house for 2 days straight, or whatever else feels good for the moment. This would technically be OK in most cases, slacking off for a few days -- but the problem is I'm not controlling it 100%.

Of course I force myself back on track eventually. However, this takes a considerable amount of effort compared to how it would be if I didn't slack off at all.

I was thinking of maybe putting a large poster on the wall saying "stay conscious and work towards your goals", or something that...

Do less thinking. It will also help you learn patience.
