Hey everyone, I've been reconsidering my cell phone plan lately, and I'm wondering whether I should hang on to my Blackberry email plan. Blackberry email plans deliver email directly to your Blackberry instantly, so that you know the moment you get a new email. The advantages of this are that you know when stuff happens right away. But I've also noticed that I often impulsively check if I have a new email. And let's face it, 99.9% of my emails aren't so important that they warrant immediate attention. Well, I think I've just answered my own question ;-) |

I'm at the computer all day and most of the evening...when I'm away from it, I like to keep my mind OFF the email! I can see where it would come in handy (last minute things you think of, or needing to send something off when out and about)...but for me anyway, the problems outweigh the benefits. Best of all? I'm not wasting money on something I don't really need. Everyone is different though! |

I think, Blackberrys are great thing because they provide you to have all your goals and tasks written always by yourself. I don't really mind emails, they are not so important, but Blackberry as every smartphone is great for organizing yourself.

I think it really depends on your personality. I'm so obsessive and addicted to technology I do my best to avoid it whenever I'm away from the computer or can get the chance to get away. E-mail and internet at my fingertips whenever I want will just detach what little I have left of my social life. Hand-held technology past a digital camera scares me. If you can keep yourself out of that kind of scenario, then I'd just weigh the pros/cons. |

Buy or not, I think you always have to consider that you mobile device is your 'slave' and you are not the 'slave' of the mobile. I don't have one, just because I do not want to be in connection 24 hours a day. No mail, no phone calls, no internet for at least 10 hours a day. Those hours I will connect to people really close to me, just old fashioned way |

PEEK makes a good point - it is so easy to fall into the trap of addiction on these things. I have two blackberrys - eek! I am not addicted now, but I've had one for a few years and have found the right balance of when to use it and when not to. When I first got it, I couldn't put it down. My wife and I rowed over it. I lost out on beer because of it. My dog disowned me. If you get one, be prepared to feel a slave to it for a while unless you have an iron-will. |
