| Hello everyone! I have been reading Steve's blog for a while and I have a question that has probably been beat to death on this forum. About 2 months ago I started setting personal development goals for myself, and it has been working great until about two weeks ago. I put off a lot of my personal development goals for just 4 days to hang out with some really good friends I haven't seen for a while. Since then I have completely lost focus on all my goals but I have also been putting a lot of stress on myself by recently giving notice to my company I will not be returning to work when my contract is up for renewal, I am also in a bit of debt and not quite sure about my future. My question is - is it worth holding off on my personal development goals for another month when most of this stress is behind me (or just beginning Also do you guys have any tips for staying really focused on certain goals? |

| Sure I have a few tips that might help, but firstly I don't think you should hold off anymore as your subconscious will probably get used to the current situation and it will be much much harder to get back on track. Don't wait! First tip) Write your mission statement, or revise your existing one. Maybe your current malaise is because your personal mission has changed? There is a another post in the forum about this 2nd tip) Concoct some 'affirmations' that remind you of your goals and your mission and take a couple of minutes to read them every day. 3rd tip) Set yourself some short term goals and attach a reward to them 4th tip) Last but not least you must deal with the stressors in your life. Maybe all of above could help you deal with them? Spend an hour in total isolation to root out the stressors by continually asking yourself questions about them to drill down on the real issue. Its a trick used by NLP practitioners called chunking. Good luck!
